Bras

I finally broke down and went bra shopping. To my horror I've gone from a D cup to an F! Holy crap. No wonder they hurt being squished into my old bras! I'm a little worried about how big they are going to get.
BTDT moms, how many cup sizes did you go up with previous pregnancies?

Re: Bras

  • I get huge boobs when pregnant with DS I went from a DD to a J it was intense my husband thought it was hilarious

  • Mine got HUGE last time and are already ginormous this time.  I think I bought new bras twice and needed new bigger ones again near the end but just held out.

Someone recommended the Genie Bra to me - comes two in a box and there is no underwire but yet lots of support, they have cups so no nip shows.  They found it at Target, but I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond of all places.  MOST COMFORTABLE BRA EVER!  The straps are pretty wide so they show under some larger neck opening shirts, but for $25 for two it is a GREAT investment.

  • Mine have gotten slightly bigger for sure, but I haven't gone in to be resized. I usually wear a DD, and I had to switch to one bra that I do have in a DDD. I'm hoping to find some new ones next week, just haven't had a chance to go yet with so much Christmas stuff to get ready for.

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
  • I got a gift card to motherhood maternity and DH said "do you think maybe you should use some of that on a bra or two". So practical... Without the gift card I probably would have held out longer but I'm so glad I didn't!
  • I need to bra shop bad. I'm down to one sorta fitting bra. And of course it's a stiff, lacy one. I desperately need some stretchy cotton on my boobs.

  • I was already a large D cup before DS. I only increased about half a cup size, but I went ahead and bought DD because it was more comfortable for nursing.

  • I have huge boobs to begin with (DD) and with DS I got to a F cup as well. That was as big as they got though, even with BFing. When I quit BFing, they went right back to DD.

  • I'm don't know about cup size because the second they grew I went to Walmart and got some bras with no wires and no "cups" these are a size large. They have thin straps and cover a lot. They are like mini tank tops with padding and go down to my rib cage. Very spandex like. I love them and will never wear a regular bra again! Best part? They were five bucks each!

  • I am refusing to address my boob issue.  That is all.

That was me for a lot of weeks but I have to tell you today they feel like they've moved from a studio apartment to a mansion!

  • Over here in small boob-ville I was jumping up and down in the Victoria Secret dressing room when I fit into a C cup, which is two cups sizes up for me. I normally wear an A.

It truly was a joyous day for me but I know they aren't here to stay.
  • I normally wear a D and just had to purchase DD bras from Kohls. I got minimizers and they are really comfy. But this genie bra thing sounds awesome so I'll have to check that out too.
  • I need to go bra shopping again. I finally went because my favorite Victorias Secret bra was making my back hurt. I was a 34DD, they measured me at 36DDD (I nearly died because I hate to think how much bigger they will get!) but that was a bit big on, so I bought a 36DD, which still has some room in the cup. It felt great when I tried the store one on, but every time I wear it the bottom folds under the wire and it hurts. I am not sure if it is because it is lacy or if I will have this problem with any underwire, since my belly kinda pushes it under. It just sucks spending $50 on a bra that still hurts. I might just buy more sports bras and call it good.
  • I went up a cup size second Tri, then another band size in 3rd Tri. My cup size went up again when I started BF, but the band size went down. So many sizes....
  • I am refusing to address my boob issue.  That is all.

    Preach.
Plus I really don't want to buy bras a jillion times. Also it's scary. They were big to begin with. I don't even have a clue how big they are now and I kinda don't want to know. Ignorance is bliss haha

  • I'm a FTM, but huge boobs were the first symptom I noticed before I took a pregnancy test. lol. I'v gone from a 34 B/C (depending on brand) to a solid 36 D (so far).

I bought actual maternity bras from Thyme Maternity because I wanted some with really good support that weren't grandma looking. I got mine when they had a buy 2 get 1 free sale, and I know last month they had buy 2 get 2 free sale. I got 3 bras (including a 5-way convertible bra) for $90. Plus I had a $50 off when you spend $100 coupon, so I bought something else for like $15 so they really only cost me $55 for 3 bras.

I like the maternity bras because they have more rows of hooks in the back so the band can get a lot longer as my ribs expand (which I have noticed them doing already). Also, the cups are meant to stretch a bit to accommodate adding an extra pound for each boob before you actually have to go up a cup size. I figured since they will grow with my boobs through pregnancy they were wroth the investment.

  • I highly recommend h&m maternity bras! Not sexy but so comfy it's the only one I can wear all day & not have achy boobs when I take it off
  • I went from a 36C to a 38DD and finally bought a new bra at Motherhood Maternity.  I knew that my boobs had gotten bigger, but I didn't realize just how big until I went there.  I was there to buy some work pants and the sales lady asked if I needed a new bra.  She whipped out the measuring tape and it wasn't until I put the DD bra on that I finally realized just how big my boobs got and just how bad my boobs looked in my smaller bra.  While the bra is definitely comfortable, I can't say that I'd use it as a nursing bra because I find that the clasps to let the cups down are a pain to re-attach.  The cups come down okay but hooking back up takes 2 hands and I don't want to have to use 2 hands if I'm out in public and holding a baby at the same time.

  • Mine got HUGE last time and are already ginormous this time.  I think I bought new bras twice and needed new bigger ones again near the end but just held out.

The Genie Bra sucks ass if you have big boobs!!! I was lucky enough to find them on clearance at target and paid $5 for the box of two. Spending $5 was a waste! No support at all. When my DH saw me take my shirt off the other day he about busted a gut bc one boob was 99% of the way hanging out and the other was barely covering my areola.

  • Went from a C cup to a G cup with baby 1 and they never went away. Ever. :O. Doc says at this point I'll be a G cup for good. Haven't fluctuated much with babies 2 and 3 though.

  • I bought myself 2 packs of these, and they're some of the comfiest bras I've ever worn. I recommend getting the gray/black ones (the white ones are flimsy and indecently sheer), and sizing conservatively. If you think you're on the edge of two sizes, stay with the smaller size and don't go up. They're not supportive at all if you go too large.
