Pregnant after a Loss

For Peace of Mind!

So I had that little spotting scare last Friday that ended up being nothing but an "angry cervix" and everything checked out well for baby girl, but since then my PGAL has gone into overdrive! Her heart rate was consistently in the 160s and at the ultrasound a month ago it was will around there, but Friday it was 150. I know as time goes one their heart rate will drop, so this is normal right? And this past week I've felt her move less, but I'm 24 weeks, so I know that's totally normal. But all these things swirl in my head: spotting....lower heart rate....less movement....spotting....lower heart rate...less movement.....

Not to mention my pregnancy hormones have really taken it up a notch, my lower back is starting to hurt this week and when I stand for a bit my lower abdomen feels sore and uncomfortable (not to mention indigestion from bad holiday eating). I feel like I'm going crazy and my drs office never got back to me.

Re: For Peace of Mind!

  • Change the record that plays in your head. Swap something positive for each of those negatives and repeat those:

Strong, normal heartbeat ... good growth ... 24 weeks and going strong...

It's hard, I know, but I do think positive thinking is a gift we give ourselves.

    Hugs.

  • Just think, it would be strange if her heartbeat wasn't slowing in pace. It is supposed to as time goes on. And the heart rate can change often due to sleeping vs being awake. Hugs! It is so tricky to stay positive when you know that things can go wrong. But you are at a good place - 24 weeks is viability and things have been going well. Movement is still spontaneous at this point too. Try enjoying the movement when you do feel it and just think about holding that sweet baby in only 15-16 weeks!
