Not a big fan I had a friend in school who was called Eleanor the whore...Thats what it reminds me of and she was a good girl...But it an old fashioned name
Love it. Very classic and timeless. Although I did go to school with one and loved the name, even then, she went by "Ellie" which is cute. Some of the stupid boys in 8th grade took to calling her Elea-wh0re, which was SO ridiculous, but it's still a nice name.
Love it. DH and I each have a niece named Eleanor--Eleanor Ruby on my side and Eleanor Kaitlyn on his side. One goes by Eleanor or Ella, the other by Ellie. I think it's a really classic, pretty name with good nickname potential. I also have a good friend in her 30s named Eleanor and she goes by Elle.
I LOVE this name. I think it is classy, and has the cute nickname of Ellie. I also like it's connection with French history, since I'm a French teacher (Eleanor of Aquitaine - she was cool!) I would absolutely use it someday, but DH doesn't like it =(
ETA: I forgot about the nn Nora. That's even better (That's my name!)
I also think of the Beatles song - Eleanor Rigby - so wanted to throw that out there too.
TTC #1 for over 5 years - too many to count IF treatments (tried everything and anything), repeat miscarriages.
Finally, Sticky Success!! B/G Twins arrived 2011.

Sorry if this is too mean for this board, but I would use it if I were birthing a 90 year old woman....
Sorry, or I could have said NMS.

I'm a fan of classic names so I like it.
but would use the nn of Ellie or Ella or Elle.
I don't like Nora at all.
I also think of the Beatles song - Eleanor Rigby - so wanted to throw that out there too.
I prefer Ellen. I think Eleanor sounds like an older name, while Ellen is not too common but not old sounding either.
Of course, I'm biased to the name Ellen because that is my name. But I would much rather have the name Ellen than Eleanor.
