Thanks for your post below about celiac disease. My 2 year old has been having symptoms for a while (consistent diahrea and distended belly) - the specialist we saw wants to do an endoscopy. The results of a blood test showed low levels of IGA. I'm hesitant because it seems like an invasive procedure and it seems stressful. I'm torn between just trying a gluten free diet for a while to see if we get results, or just going ahead with the endoscopy. Its currently scheduled for a few weeks from now, and I was told to keep her on a regular, gluten-containing diet in order to keep the results of the scope valid. I hate giving her bread and crackers that may be potentially making her sick for the next few weeks. However, I'm considering whether an endoscopy is the best choice because we'd then have an "official" diagnosis, which would be helpful for later on when she starts school? Thoughts? Thanks for your help. Its hard finding other people who've been through the process with a little one.
