Stuff in the crib?

LO has been waking up early - between 4 and 5. We used to go get him out of bed as soon as we heard him, but now we're letting him hang out for a while - he 'talks' a bunch, moves around his crib, falls back asleep - then wakes up, talks a bunch, moves around his crib... repeat repeat repeat - this morning, he did this for an hour or so. He never cried, so I didnt get him up until the "talking" got super loud and escalated and I couldn't fall back to sleep.

We don't have anything in the crib with him, but I'm wondering if I should give him some sort of entertainment for when he wakes up? We don't have a mobile, but I think he's getting a projector from the grandparents for Christmas - but I don't really want to run it all night (and I'm afraid if I go in to turn it on, he'll want OUT of his crib.

  • I keep a lovey, a teether, some board books, Sophie, and their blankets in there.

It keeps them entertained for about an hour or so when they wake up.

  • Our mobile/projector came with a remote so we don't have to go close to the crib. It's the Fisher Price Precious Planet projector mobile.
  • Thanks! I think I'll put a few things in his crib tonight. I really need to give him a blankie - he's got a bunch of blankets, but nothing "special."

  • He keeps his lovey in there but he reaches up and turns his soother on.

Unfortunately, the last 3 days he has been reaching up and turning on his soother  at 2am-3am-ish when he would normally just go roll over and go back to bed. He keeps smacking at it until it turns on and I think it keeps him up more than normal because he doesn't always get in on the first 2-3 tries.

Once it is on though, he goes back to sleep, in general. Its the fisher price aquarium.

We have one of these too, he turns it on himself in the morning to entertain himself

  • She has two toys and her paci. We have a sound activated white noise/ projector...you could try that. We run the white noise all night so I don't know how well the sound activation is.
