EP Check-In

Have our numbers dwindled even further?

How's everyone doing? Anything you want to talk about?

How much longer are you planning on EPing?

Re: EP Check-In

  • Hanging in there!  I'm finding it more and more difficult to pump while entertaining/feeding LO now that she's grabbing at everything and become more mobile!

I'm wanting to drop a pump, but not sure when!  I have my schedule blocked off twice at work, so I can rearrange that, but it's a little tougher.  Right now I pump at 3:30 am (I get a TON at this time, so I'm hesitant to give that one up!), 7:30 am, 11:30 am, 2:30 pm, 5:30 pm, and 8:30 pm. Any tips?
Plan on getting LO BM until 1 year, so probably be able to stop in a few months!

  • @bleachy14  It's such a weird, psychological trip, isn't it?  Pumping is stressful and awful, but the thought of actually quitting pumping gives me anxiety, as well.  I don't understand it!  I guess people who BF probably have similar feelings - maybe bittersweet in a way!

Oooh, I would LOVE to drop my 5:30 pm pump...I agree - it's soooo stressful getting off work, having to pump/unpack for the day/get dinner ready/take care of the baby...Maybe I can push my 2:30 pump to 3:30 and then just give me a longer gap before my 8:30 pm pump.  The 5:30 pump is usually when I get the least amount of volume for the day, too.  Did you notice any change in your supply when you took out that pump?
  • I'm here! Trying to decide if I want to keep pumping. I usually pump3-4 times a day and only getting 8 oz all day. Its stressful because I'm trying to keep up with pumping and dealing with him FTT. I think that's keeping from getting more.. To much stress. I'll probably stop in Febraury.

  • @RedCherry1109  Hang in there if you so desire :)  We're here for support if you need encouragement!
  • I am down to 3 pumps daily. I'm not producing much milk anymore- usually 12 oz daily which is a little less than 1/2 of LO's needs. I'm going to work on dropping another pump after Jan 1.

@kelly422 when I dropped my 5:00pm pump it was glorious! That's what I would suggest to drop. I found that I don't produce as much in the evening and it was interfering with dinner time.

  • Thanks ladies! I wish I had more of a supply because I love to BF. I had been trying to get him back on the breast but he isn't transfering enough because he gets hungry an hour later. I think after the holidays I can get back on a schedule and see if I up my supply, if not then I'll stop.

  • @Bleachy14 Yeah, I've done it the last couple of days.  I'm only short 1-2 oz for the whole day, so it's totally worth 1-2 ounces for some freedom in my life!
  • I quit and it was amazing.  LO is getting 4oz of frozen milk every bottle so he's still getting the benefits, but I don't have the stress.  Finding the right formula was stressful, but we're in a groove now.  I do miss the breaks at work!
