We are now hosting Christmas Day!

I was expecting this, but still.....I was hoping that we wouldn't host.

DH's family lives very local--MIL/BIL live 5 minutes away, BIL/SIL live about 15 minutes away. Christmas day is always low key in his family--usually we just go to his mom's and relax there. His mom's house is very small; and my BIL mentioned going there and then leaving that day to go to SIL's family---which is parents and sister (again, not very big). I thought that was kind of silly---especially since both families are local and both are small. So BIL and I were talking about one of us hosting Christmas Day. (They just had 35+ people for Thanksgiving) so it really is only fair for us for Christmas Day. 

But still.....<insert whine here>

At least everyone is bringing something. MIL is making a turkey breast and veggies; BIL is making a ham, SIL's family is bringing desserts and I will have mashed potatoes and rolls/breads....

But I have to clean. UGH.

I love hosting Christmas! The house is clean, the kids can keep playing with their new toys, and we don't have to leave the house (especially in bad weather).

I also love hosting (I host ALL of the holidays). So much better/easier for the kids

Oh I know---and I get that. I really do. But like I said, our drive is never bad---either 5 or 15 minutes, so in my mind it was never a big deal. 

I think I am just grouchy because our house is a complete disaster---like OVERWHELMING type mess where I don't know where to begin and with us being sick last week and DH sick now and working tomorrow---I am just well overwhelmed.

I am used to the last minuteness of DH's family---and truthfully it is pretty much their only fault---so well, I can't complain. Plus they are making up for it by bringing most of the food---so I am not too upset. I just hate cleaning with a passion
