Prometrium capsules vaginally? Anyone else?

My RE prescribes Prometrium capsules to be taken vaginally. Anyone else's RE do this? I took the first one last night and woke up to a mess! Am I doing this right? And how far are you supposed to, um, insert them? These are the questions I don't think of until midnight on a Friday, lol. Thanks ladies for putting up with me.

I take 200 mg twice a day. They are gross, but not too bad. Mine go up as far as my finger allows!! I read somewhere to run them under the water for a second and it makes them less irritating. I've been doing that and I haven't had any problems. Also I won't start AF until I stop taking them...which can make you get your hopes up. Also pantyliners are your friend. Good luck this cycle!

This is my second month on them....they're pretty nasty! I also put it in as far as I can...panty liners are definitely needed if you don't want to ruin your underwear. Last night I woke up at 3am feeling 'irritated' down there and kind of itchy (sorry, tmi) so I really hope this isn't going to continue or worsen as it didn't happen last month!

Agree with the pp's, I push it up there as far as it will go, lol! I do like prometrium much better than Crinone gel. Next month I'll be on 2 vag suppositories, fml!

Just wanted to add that if you're feeling a lot of discomfort, mention it to your RE or nurse. Clomid gives me a super fun yeast infection. If I had not cleared the yeast before starting the prometrium, I cannot imagine the irritation that would have resulted.

I have to do it vaginally, otherwise I have crazy dizzy spells. There's always a mess for me too unfortunately. It's better than feeling like the room is spinning though!

I take them too and I get every pregnancy symptom known to man from them.  I try to get them up as far as they can go so I get less coming out LOL.  I usually take them until AF is due and if by chance I would get a BFP then you take them the first 12 weeks!

I did them after both IUIs and they weren't my favorite activity, but it wasn't too bad for me. There were a handful of times when it got a little messy.  If I could, I would lay down for a little afterwards to give it time to start getting absorbed.  Good luck!

Thanks ladies for the input and tips! I did have a little irritation yesterday so I am running them under water first now, so far seems to be helping. Thanks @ronniesgirl1981 ! 

I guess I will try to get them in farther. I am doing it at bedtime and sometime during the night the capsule bursts and all the stuff leaks out - gross, wakes me up because it feels like my period starting, and I worry that all the progesterone is just falling out. :-/ I'm glad I'm not the only one! (Not sure why my font changed just now...)

They are VERY messy - they make liners for thongs too which help during the day.  I stick them up as far as I can reach and hope for the best.  Those little thing make me bloated and eat like a lumberjack.  I feel so "normal" when AF comes.  Best wishes to you!!  FX for BFP so you never have to deal with it again!
