Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Can I bring my DD around other children?

My DD just had the MMR vaccine 10 days ago. Today, she broke out in little hives; anticipated side effect of the vaccine. Does this mean that I cannot bring her around other toddlers? We are planning on going to a holiday party with at least 6 other LO's and I want to be responsible. She doesn't have a fever. Just wondering what you would do (besides call the pedi which I am going to do right now)

TIA!

  • I agree with above poster but you can call pedi to double check.

  • Yes the MMR is a live virus vaccine and can SHED. Did you read the vaccine insert? I think it can shed up to 28 days after (not sure about the exact time frame). The vaccine manufacturer website and CDC should also have the info.

  • Thank you for your responses! My pedi said that we were fine to be around other toddlers. Just needed the reassurance.

@grk_natasha, I didn't see your post till after the festivities. I will research and let the other mothers know in case their kids are effected.
