I read the husband coached child birth book as we took the Bradley classes. I had a hospital birth with an OB so I wanted to be prepared. I found "The thinking womans guide to a better birth" by Henci Goer very helpful. It talks about all the interventions you may encounter, when they are need, and why. I really liked it. I have also heard that the book "Birth without fear" is good. I never got a chance to read it though. Several people here recommend "the birth partner by Penny Simkin.
