That lack of filter...

Apparently DS1's teacher told the class today that she is pregnant. DS1 then told her that it's a good thing that she'll be pregnant this winter because she will be fat like Santa Claus. Thankfully his teacher is great and was able to laugh it off but sheesh!

We had a discussion at home about how it's not polite to tell people that they are or will be fat and his response continued to be "Well, when you have a baby inside you, you ARE fat!" So we basically left it as: Even if someone is pregnant or overweight, don't talk about them being "fat". We're planning on having that talk again before school starts up again.

Anyone else have a child without a filter?

Re: That lack of filter...

  • My DS recently asked GMIL if her whole body is old. Yep we had a talk about not asking/telling people they're old on the car ride home. Not sure how much he absorbed. I have a feeling it will be an on going conversation.

  • My DD1 told my mom that she has a wrinkly face and my dad that he's going to die soon because he is old.

Yeah, tact is an ongoing process.

LB you reminded me of a convo a few weeks ago.

DS: Is Grandma A (MIL) old?

Me: Well she's daddy's mommy so she's older but not that old ( early-mid 60's)

DS: Is she so old she's going to DIE?

Me: No she's not that old. ........

  • "G. is a brown one. I'm a white one."

    "I can't play with A. and G. because I'm a white one."
