Vent- promotion passed by

I was promised a promotion 2 plus years ago, things got messy at work because of upper management and they tabled it until they could smooth over ruffled feathers. I essentially was the fall guy with my team for letting go of dead weight and the team rejected the idea of a promotion ( not sure when advancement became a team decision) anyway... I put my nose down and have worked my a$$ off for 13 plus years... I don't play politics or games... I just get stuff done. When I became pregnant the atmosphere changed, and responsibilities were shifted to someone I brought in... I could feel it but has little control over it. Today, I received an email that the person I recommended was being promoted to ops man... Wtf!!!! I am thrilled for her but am angry and saddened by the fact that having a baby and a mishap on managements side has cost me a promotion I worked hard for! From the moment I became pregnant they acted like I could no longer function as a productive member of the team... This just topped the cake!

I work for a family owned company HR isnot impartial. I am going to wait it out, it may just be a title change with no real management responsibilities but a glorified secretary... I have also been thinking about staying home for a year and working from here. My mom helped talk me off my ledge... Perhaps it's a blessing. I am going to keep quiet for a bit, see how it plays out and how working from home goes, if it goes well, and I am still frustrated, I may just request a change in paths, stay home for a year, then fast track to an outside position with one of my partners who will be retiring - take over his client base... But this time, I will get the plan in writing with an implementation schedule. At least I was smart when they gave me the management offer and requested a salary increase, so I have been paid for it either way and have every intention of asking for additional $ in Feb because of the volume of work I complete and additional responsibility. So it may all work out! Thank you for your support!
