IUI Questions

I will start my first round of IUI next cycle.  I will do clomid, trigger and IUI.  I've never done ANY fertility treatment or drugs... this is completely foreign to me (except for what I've read in your posts and comments over the past 6 months).  Break it down... tell me about your experience, what can I expect, hope for, etc...

    It feels like a Pap smear- quick- some cramping but I think that is from the clomid giving you a stronger O.

    My doctor gave me zero restrictions afterwards but, I think the occasion warrants a nap :)

    The clomid gave me hot flashes and crazy mood swings! Like - Linda Blair - head spinning - mood swings.

    Lol KC's response is perfect! Clomid is nuts. The IUI is pretty easy peasy. I didn't do anything special after. Good luck

    Spontaneous pregnancy #2= Ectopic #2= lost left tube
    Spontaneous pregnancy #3= DD2 January 29, 2016
    Spontaneous pregnancy #4= Ectopic #3
    Spontaneous pregnancy #5= Baby #3 is a BOY!!!

    Clomid doesn't bother me much at all. IUIs are pretty simple!
    Eta: lol sorry for such a lengthy response!

    Two DDs 10/08 and 08/10, no primary IF
    TTC #3 since 10/2011 - dx unexplained/weak ovulation
     3 BFN clomid + TI cycles, 5 BFN clomid/gonal f IUIs, 1 mmc IUI
    2/19/2014 IVF #1 Unexpected low E2 (oversuppressed) -> increased to max doses = 3 or 4 follicles, converting to IUI
    BFFP Saw 1 beautiful heartbeat at 6w6d, follow up u/s at 9w showed mmc. Eff this.
    NTNP 5/2014-9/2014, OPKs and TI 10/2014 - 1/2015. 
    RPL testing all normal, AFC, AMH, and FSH all normal. 
    IVF 1.2 1/22/2014 natural cycle start, AFC 28, 300 gonal f/150menopur. 
    ER 2/3/15 14R 8M 3F w/ICSI Day 5 transfer on 2/8/15 of one "Grade A+" blast and have TWO frosties!

    I know nothing about IUIs yet but I wish you the best of luck on your first medicated cycle!

    I wish I didn't have to know anything about IUIs :( This is poopy.  I'm still baffled that the trigger shot will occur and then they wait like 24-36 hours AND THEN do the IUI... I'd be so scared I'd ovulate sooner than that and timing would suck.

    Girl, please. IUIs are the easiest thing about IF next to just doing TI cycles. You can ovulate sooner, but it won't really matter much, they'd do the IUI anyway. We've had stories on this board of ovulating early on an IVF cycle, in which case you are totally screwed- they may or may not turn your cycle into an IUI and even then it's a huge Hail Mary. 

    Sit back, relax, and enjoy the simplicity of your IUI. It's a straw with some sperm in it. Totally fine.

    It eliminates the sperm's "journey" so let's say you O early... It won't matter much - the egg is there waiting- they but your hubs best swimmers right on the target :)

    I worried about this back when I started IUIs. My RE reassured me (multiple times!) that ultrasound monitoring is much more accurate than opks. And with meds I can practically pinpoint the moment that egg(s) pop out, and it's always right around my iui time or later, and my IUIs are timed 36hrs after trigger. I know it's a lot to process, but trust your docs!

    Clomid HATE!! IUI pretty easy. :) 

    TTC for 1.5 years with a crappy RE. 12 cycles with clomid (11 too many)
    New RE, 3 failed IUI's moving to IVF with ICSI
    IVF#1 BFP EDD 1/10/13
    Beta#1 51  Beta #2 148
    A/S 8/20/13 Team Pink
    Induced week 39 due to severe GD
    Baby girl born 1/4/13
