Working Moms

S/O - time off- what are you doing?

If you are off next week and keeping the kids home with you- what do you have planned?

We get a weeks vacation each year where we don't have to pay tuition if we keep the kids out M-F, so next week I am keeping the kids home with me.

Monday we are going to my moms to bake cookies. Thursday will be a lazy day at home, plus DS2 has a dr's appt at 3pm.

So I need some ideas for Tuesday morning and Friday. What are your plans?

Re: S/O - time off- what are you doing?

  • Kids are in DC Monday. Tuesday well just hang at home in the morning then go to my moms after nap. Wed we go to MILs for dinner. Thursday is a lazy day at home playing with all the new toys. Friday we are baking cookies with my mom. Saturday is a huge family party.
My mom will have the kids the following Monday and Tuesday, she may take them to her house to play.

Suggestions for activities- zoo, aquarium, children's museum, bouncy place, make a gingerbread house, go see Christmas light show, sesame place, Disney on ice, steam train ride.

  • We're off all of next week, so we'll be heading down South to spend the Holidays with family. DS will most likely be spending the majority of his time with everyone that doesn't get to see him (Great Grandma, big sister, Grandparents, Uncle, ect.) I'll most likely be busy prepping for Christmas dinner and all that jazz with my Mom.

If you're talking about the Sesame Place in PA, I thought it was closed during Winter. I could be mistaking.

  • Yes sesame place in PA, they are open weekends in December and during the holiday week for very furry Christmas. We actually haven't gone in dec, it's usually too cold, but if I had more time off from work I'd consider it.

They are also open weekends in Oct for Halloween- that's a much nicer time of year weather wise. But at Christmas they have lights all over the park.

  • We have tons of different family events going on, all in the area. Monday I am off but the nanny is still coming part of the day so I can finish shopping/wrapping/whatever. That evening, we are going to my brother's house for a party. Tuesday (Christmas Eve) we are going to mass at 4:00 and then to my grandparents' for our dinner/gift opening with my side of the family. Christmas Day Santa comes and then in late afternoon we go to a huge party at DH's mom's house. On the 26th, we will visit a bit more with some of my family. The 27th at night we have Christmas/gift opening with the immediate family on DH's side, in the evening. The weekend should be more quiet! Then on Jan. 4 we have one more family party. I love having so many social things to do and I love that we don't have to travel with the kids.

Also, starting this weekend, we still have to put a tree up (long story), make cutout cookies, and maybe at some point we'll try to go sledding, since it's been very snowy this year.

  • We are actually off then next two week. We are going to AZ for a family wedding the weekend after Xmas but we will be getting to AZ on Monday to start our vacation then week 2 we are going to Disneyland and SanDiego for a few days before we come home.

Typically DH and I are off the 2 weeks of Xmas and NY. We typically send DS one week to DC the other week we keep him home. He only goes Wed-Fri so it really only means 3 day at DC in 2 weeks depending on how the holiday falls. We normally go to the local museum do some fun holiday activities like go to a Christmas light display etc. Then the days that DS goes to DC DH and I will have a date day :)

  • We will be transitioning to a new in home daycare, visiting my father and just relaxing. Today when school gets out, I have the next 2 weeks off. Baby and I have both been sick for the last 3-4 days so hopefully we can get well. Lol.. I am still exhausted from all of our Thanksgiving holiday travels.
  • DS is so young we don't have activities planned for him, but I'm hoping to bake and get some unpacking done.  We moved in early August and DS arrived almost a month early a few weeks later so we have a lot to do still.  Otherwise just spend time with him before I start back full time after the new year.

I'm 34/35 weeks pregnant and hosting Christmas for my cousin's family and my parents (visiting from out of state) at my place this year.  Part of me is super excited as DD#1 is a 2 and 1/2 and really interested in Christmas for the first time.  Another part of me will be quite content when it's all over.

I love some of the suggestions for stuff to do made by pp's.

DD's DC is closed this week and with family in town, she'd stay home anyways.

We don't have much of an agenda, but here are a few things we want to do: go see Santa, hiking, decorate and bake cookies, walk through neighborhoods with cool Christmas light displays, visit a few tourist attractions with the grandparents, go to the local indoor playground/jumpy gym.

After Christmas, we have dental and veterinarian appts.  I also want to get new baby things more squared away.

I'm taking advantage of all the extra hands and getting out to get some exercise every day too.

One thing I'm hoping NOT to do: go into early labor :-)

  • The first week, traveling out of state, spending time with out of state family and friends doing a number of things. Week two, I'm going to force myself to relax while still doing some fun things with DS (Chuck E Cheese, Bounce House, mall, play date, skating, etc.)
