Organic milk or not?

Re: Organic milk or not?

  • We do organic milk in our house, mostly because I try to give my LO everything organic that he puts into his mouth (I'm not a super stickler but with the rise of childhood cancers and other diseases it makes me try to be extra cognizant of what he eats). I also try to buy organic fruits and veggies for him (not always for my husband and I though), and use organic brands (earth's best, etc).

In one of my master's courses, we learned a lot about genetically modified foods, (for instance did you know that 70% of all foods that we eat have been genetically modified? Cause I definitely didn't!) I've watched a lot of documentaries too and it just makes me nervous how much the general public really doesn't know what's in their foods (and by general public I mean me) :).. You don't know what type of GM corn or grain that the cows eat that pump regular milk. But honestly who really knows if the organic foods are in deed better or healthier, but I just know I'd rather spend an extra few dollars for him to not have to worry so much.

I did find this recent article which suggests that "Organic milk contains more heart-healthy fatty acids than regular milk" (https://www.nbcnews.com/health/yep-organic-milk-really-better-you-regular-milk-2D11712970). So that's one thing I guess....

I'm never the type to judge about other parents and their choices, this is just what we do in our family.. I think you just need to choose whatever works best for your family :)
