Wouldn't matter too much - good emeralds are more rare and often more expensive than diamonds! My birthday is April and I was so happy to have a May baby - if our next is a girl I don't want her birthday to be April because it is no fun only getting fake jewelry with your birthstone. But I'm afraid emerald won't be much different.

    edited for clarity.
"good" emeralds may be more expensive but 99.9% of the time you are going to get a lab created one for those types of jewelry.

I hate all of the pop up holiday kiosks at the mall.  I don't understand why you would send someone a sausage and cheese platter.  Or, why you wouldn't buy candy from someplace that has been in business all year.  Paper lanterns are not a gift.  Novelty slippers take up too much room in the path of the mall where people already walk like idiots.  And no, I don't want to smell Paris Hilton perfume.
I'm not a fan of the pushy-people kiosks ANY time of year...but I do love me some free Hickory Farms samples!!!  (In fact, I'm going to the mall specifically for the Hickory Farms kiosk this weekend...my dad always wants the maple & brown sugar summer sausage for Christmas.)

I also prefer emeralds to diamonds. I actually prefer rubies to diamonds as well. I won't ever say I hate diamonds but there are many other more beautiful options.

As far as jewelry, I would prefer something with the birthstones included but not something marketed to be mom jewelry. I have no desire for a diamond, real or not.

You're not alone. Wine is ok for me...but give me a cold beer any day over a glass of wine.
Yeah but I don't like beer either. I guess I'm more of a cocktail person. I only drink occasionally. I like drinks with rum. And I like Jaegermeister.

Noooo - wine is SO much better than beer. I'm not much of a beer drinker but I hate "lite" beer - Miller Lite, Bud Light, Coors, etc. It's just beer flavored water. I do like ales and some lagers but wine is way better.

Also, I despise all soda. Anything carbonated, really. It burns my throat.

Eta: on the jewelry front, my birthstone is emerald so I'm glad E and V were born in April and have a different one than I do. That said, although I love diamonds, they don't feel very birthstoney to me.

Edited again. I also don't like my beer cold. It should be served at room temperature, the European way.

Oh me too. It is one of my biggest pet peeves. I detest them.
Especially when people buy the huge ones that are as tall as their one story house. And they always look dead to me during the day when they're not blown up and collapsed on the ground.

Me too but I still want one for DD1. However I have still yet to buy one bc they are too expensive. Maybe my inner self is refusing to buy one... Just have to wait and see.

I don't really believe in soul mates.  The closest I've felt to having a soul mate has been with some of my girlfriends.  I love my husband with all my heart and we are a great match.  But I think that if I had moved to a different part of the country ten years ago, I might have fallen in love sooner or later.  I would love someone in a different way and they might be a different person, but I'd still be happy.  I think God has a plan for me (as well as others), and I was meant to be with my H.  But there are a lot of people in the world, and if I had been somewhere else, I might have found someone else and eventually make babies that I love as much as the ones I have now.  (I'd also be fine alone.)
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade my life for anything!
I will actually agree with you 100% on this one. I was engaged before I met DH, madly in love, and unfortunately he died. I love DH with all my heart and I'm so grateful for our life together, but I know I would have been equally happy in another set of circumstances. I believe each person comes into our lives for a specific purpose and a specific time and we may not ever know what that purpose was but we can't make too much out of forever - it just doesn't always happen.

DH got me an emerald and diamond necklace. He had to search high and low for a real emerald. I never realized that emeralds were so rare and expensive!

I don't like alcohol at all, with the exception of firefly sweet tea vodka, mostly because I can get tricked into drinking it if I think it's an arnold palmer.

I agree. I also believe God has a plan for me but a soul mate? Not so much. I think I fell in love with someone and if it had been someone else it would still require a lot of hard work and commitment to make it last forever.

  • well, it would seem that the way this UO is going, I'm definitely going to be in the minority.

I hate jewelry, all of it. The only jewelry I'll wear (unless a rubberband counts as bracelet) is my wedding ring and I still think DH spent too much on it. He's actually kind of sad because he can't buy me jewelry because he knows I won't wear it.

Also, I'm kind of on the fence about soul mates. I think DH is actually my perfect other half, but I don't know if that would make him my soul mate. We complement each other better than I could have ever imagined and within hours of us meeting, I knew he was the right person for me. Our dogs also were instrumental in our meeting so maybe that sways my believing that he probably is my soul mate...

  • I think people take their sports way too seriously. I live in CO and while I think the Broncos are a great team (even though I'm a Seahawks fan all they way), it's ridiculous how 3 losses over the entire season is oh so devastating and everyone is getting on Manning's case, etc etc. Get over it people, it's a GAME!

Like this? Headbands won't stay on her head and she pulls barettes out of her hair.image Edit: posted before I was finished.
It's hard to tell because the pony is a bit cut off in your pic but it looks like it's off to the side which is totally fine. Plus she has quite a bit of hair so that makes it better. Most people love them either way, that's why it's my UO. Also, she is totally adorable. :)

I dont celebrate Christmas but i LOVE looking at Christmas lights -so pretty. I especially love the "blinking ones" -the ones that flash vs the ones that stay the same and the more color the better

Mine is that I hate the blinky lights. And icicle lights too. And blow up stuff. Give me some traditional fat white bulbs or the fat muti colored bulbs any day and I'm a happy girl.

I also think most mom jewlery is lame. Pandora is stupid.

I believe my soul mate is a very dear friend, not H. I do think H and I are unmistakeably right for each other though. I also think that everyone is brought into our lives for a reason and timing plays a huge role in it.

---------------- I think this is awfully presumptuous! Wine is definitely an acquired taste. It's not for everyone. Eta: For example, I'm sure if I offered @makeupgeek a sip of a Barolo or Chateauneuf de Pape, she wouldn't be impressed. And those are very good bottles of wine.
Maybe it's presumptuous, but it could be true. I've only ever tried it a few times. Once when I went to a dinner with a friend and she ordered a wine sampler. There were 3 white and 3 red. Also I once tried strawberry wine. I didn't care for any of them. No idea what brands they were though.

Ah, ok. Well, in that case I recommend you keep trying them. ;) Kidding. My point was, good wine is an acquired taste, and is also in the eye (taste bud?) of the beholder. I like medium to full bodied dry wines and detest sweet wines. Pino Grigio is too sweet for me and I think Riesling is disgusting. But another person who claims to love wine may have the opposite taste.

Of course, they'd be wrong... :)
