I've read that it's common for women to have diarrhea close to when they deliver and that it is a sign that labor is near. Have you heard this? Did anyone experience this before going into labor?
What @chuggingwater said. I had looser movements the morning that I woke up in labor but it had been off and on for a few days. The best sign that you are actually in labor are painful contractions that you can't walk or talk through anymore. Everything else seems kind of individualized.
I am 37 1/2 weeks. Two nights ago, I had a surge of energy, was nesting for many hours after work, had looser stools and was a little more emotional than usual. I told my DH that maybe labor was near because different people had mentioned to me that these things had happened to them the night before they went into labor. However, I am only 2 cm dilated with no steady contractions, so it was just a coincidence. I feel like I am at the point that I am over-analyzing everything!
@holly142 my experience was exactly the same! I think I'm also over-analyzing everything. I think this with the lack of sleep is making me look too into things.
A couple weeks ago within a couple days of each other I experienced almost the entire list of early warning signs. I dropped, lost my baby cork, switched from constipated to borderline diarrhea, started having really painful BHs, energy burst, etc. and I was like "this might be it!".

Nope. Still pregnant.
HOLY SHIT I'm never calling it anything but a baby cork ever again. I wish that you got wine after it came out though...wouldn't that be the best?

Yeah, has a ring to it. And I could totally go for a glass or 3 of wine.
I wouldn't put too much stock into trying to find possible signs of labor. The only real sign is when you're actually at the hospital and they tell you you're in labor

Same, a week ago I started getting SOOOOO EXCITED because of all these things. Particularly the pooping, which was amazing due to being constipated for so long--I went four times in one day and was like "this baby is on his way out I just know it!"
Noooope. Appointment this morning and I am a whole half centimeter dilated and haven't even had any BH in the last day or so. Sigh.
TWO Babies in 2014! DS #1 Born 01/07/2014, DS #2 Born 12/17/2014
Yes this may be TMI but I started having stomach cramps with diarrhea like a stomach virus at 12am while watching TV and I was going to the bathroom every 5-10 minutes and emptying out diarrhea. I thought it was because of all the vegetables I ate that day so I did not know I was in labor. I was up all night with those stomach cramps going back and forth the the bathroom. I slept for maybe 3 hours and then had bloody show at 8am went to the hospital at 10am, I was so quiet they took their time to check me and when they finally checked my dilation I was at 5cm around 1pm and had him at 5:56pm with no epi. Good luck ladies.
It can be, yes...something about the body cleansing itself before the big show. That said, its a weaker sign of labor. I wouldn't get all excited if you have diarrhea on its own. Now, if you have that, start bleeding and lose your mucus plug...that's probably a better indication that something may be starting up.

Re: Diarrhea (cringe)-Sign of Labor?
'Can be' being the key phrase here.
