Carpel Tunnel horrible with this pregnancy..

So I have been trying to stay off the computer and my phone because of my wrist.. Both of them hurt horribly and my hands going numb.. It travels all the way up my arm into my shoulder blade.. Finally bought braces for both hands and it is helping.. Sleeping is painful.. Either side, the hand goes numb and wakes me up.. at 19 weeks, it is getting harder to sleep on my back.. Called the doc and the nurse just said try to rest it, ice it and do yoga..  UGHH...

Re: Carpel Tunnel horrible with this pregnancy..

  • I went to my doc right around the time I got pregnant for this & she scared me to death talking about surgery! I actually saw an acupuncturist & it went away with one visit... I was so skeptical but was willing to try anything. This lady was sliding scale so visits are $20-$40 w/e you want to pay. So i figured why not. Mine was so bad it kept me up at night :(

  • I happened to I have an appt the next day, we had been focusing on trying to get my periods to regulate (21 day cycles are not cool especially when you're EBFing!). So that visit I had her focus on my wrist. Still a little numb for a couple of days then gone & hasn't been back in about 5 months!

  • Ugh mine is awful too! It only is this bad when I'm pregnant though so I have that to be thankful for I guess.

  • I hope you find some relief! Keep me posted!

  • It may help to sleep with the wrist braces-have you tried that? Mine really help me sleep when my carpal tunnel gets bad.

  • I am very much not looking forward to this coming back.  Mine was so bad last pregnancy, but thankfully didn't show up until after 30 weeks.  I really don't know how I will work until the end if it gets that bad.  I couldn't feel a thing.  Didn't help that my doctor didn't really have any information or advice, didn't even tell me it was normal or abnormal.  Thank goodness I switched.

  • Sorry to hear.  My carpal tunnel never fully went away after my son was born and is back with a vengeance now.  Ugh.

  • Ugh. I dread this. It was awful with my last pregnancy and last until well after delivery. Sleeping is the worst.

Good luck. I hope you find some relief.

  • Mine is really bad too.  I only have it during pregancy and thankfully it is just on my left side and not both, but it's so painful.  I started icing before bed and then sleeping with the brace on and it's really helping me a lot.

  • I thought this was the strangest symptom to pregnancy, but I have it too. It is so painful, I wear a wrist guard now, but it hurts to do mostly everything! I hope it goes away, especially when baby is here. This sucks!
  • I had that for ten flipping weeks with my sons pg. Incredibly annoying and sometimes painful. I hope it lets up for you soon!

  • Yuck. I had it with DS, starting at 31w and not going away till 2w PP. Wrist braces helped some, but mostly I just had to live with it. The worst part was having to touch my baby with numb hands. I so desperately wanted to feel him those first few days.

It just came back this time at 34 weeks. It's only in the right hand so far and isn't constant, but it's more painful. Not just numbness. Brushing my teeth hurts like a mofo.
