After birth control....

So when I was on BC (nuvaring) I didn't have a period for years. I stopped BC in may and got my first period in July. Since stopping my cycles have been (in order) approx. 9 weeks, 8 weeks, 7 weeks, 6 weeks. So they seem to be getting shorter by about a week each time. I'm hoping this means I'm working my way up to having a somewhat normal cycle pretty soon here. My question is has anyone experienced anything similar? I find. It so odd that it gets shorter by a week each time.

  • You really should start charting. Your cycle length really matters not at all as long as it's long enough that you're ovulating and not habitually like 65 days long. 6 weeks could very well be your normal.

Also, pretty much anything under the sun is considered normal for a few months after BC.

  • Before BC my cycles were 4 weeks but who knows now.

  • I second Debate This. When you get your period doesn't even matter, so much as when you ovulate. Everyone is different when it comes to coming off bc, so don't worry - lots of ladies have had similar experiences.

  • The period doesn't matter much, but it would be nice to have a somewhat regular, predictable cycle. Also, if my cycles where a month rather than 6 or 8 weeks it should mean I'm ovulating more often :)

This is (AGAIN) why you should chart. Your LP will not vary much (if at all) no matter how long your cycles are. You will be able to predict pretty darn quickly how long your cycle will be based on that alone.

Before birth control, my cycles were never predictable or even similar from month to month..when we started TTC and I stopped birth control, they were suddenly quite predictable and regular.
