PNP mattress help

Because the pmp's mattress folds LO has not figured out that when she's in her pnp she can flip the ends of the mattress over.  She then sits in spot where the mattress was lifted up. We tried distracting, playing, ignoring, but she just looks back at us and giggles.   I thought of putting velcro strips on the bottom of the mattress, but hubs doesn't think that will work.  Does your lo do this, have you been able to stop them from doing it and how?

ours has a fold ridge as well. I blame the sheet & it's elastic that covers up the preexisting velcro on ours.

I have this softer, slightly thick sheet that covers everything. I've never had a problem.
