Miscarriage!? (Ticker warning)

I decided not to go through with a D&C and wait to miscarry because I was in a lot of denial. But now I'm wishing I would have gotten the D&C. I've been in so much pain the past two days and the amount of blood!!!!

I'm just shocked! My doctor told me it would be like a regular period. This is not like a regular period, this is like my guts are falling out of my vag. TMI sorry! But the pain too, I feel like I'm in labor, not menstral cramps.

Generally how long does this last? The pain and the bleeding.

Re: Miscarriage!? (Ticker warning)

  • I am so sorry. In my experience the length of time can really vary (I remember it hurting for two days or so leading up to the bleeding) but if you are concerned def call your doctor to ask. Once you pass most of the tissue it will taper off a bit to just some spotting and doesn't hurt as much. Perhaps they can prescribe you some pain meds to help? Also, heating pads work very well to numb it a bit. I really hope it gets better for you.
  • The length of time can definitely vary (as well as the pain). I think you should call your doctor and see if what you're experiencing is normal/acceptable - she/he might prescribe something over the phone for you.

I'm so sorry you're hurting (physically and emotionally). It just isn't fair.

  • I am so sorry you are going through this.  With my blighted ovum, it was very much like a heavy period, just a bit crampier.  I agree with pp and think you should check in with your doctor.  I hope the physical pain subsides soon.  (((hugs)))

  • I only had a gestational sac measuring about 5-6 weeks a few weeks ago...I started spotting on a Friday with slight cramping...on Sunday night I started having red blood.  Monday I was bleeding red and cramping...I cramped most of the day but it wasn't unbearable.  I passed it that night and while it was painful it wasn't unbearable...my OB prescribed me percocet which took the edge off (I started taking it AFTER I passed the sac because I didn't realize it was about to happen, I kept waiting for more pain to happen).  this all happened 3 weeks after I found out I had a BO.

bleedingwise it was a TONNNNNNN of blood and tissue...way more than an actual period.  i would think if you are passing a ton then it is happening right now.  the crazy bleeding lasted at tops 2 hours for me.

I would definitely call your OB if you are in a lot of pain...they can at the least prescribe you some medicine but also tell you if the pain you are feeling is normal.  I would imagine you could still go through with a D&C if you don't pass it soon.

hope you start to feel better soon!

  • I hate when doctors tell us it's like a normal period, bulls***!!!!! They should really prepare us better and say it's more like being in labor. Sorry you are going thru this
  • Oy! What helps is if you press/rub on your lower abdomen, which can also help the tissue pass faster. Also, you can't go wrong with a heating pad.
