Talk to me about bleach

I have been cd for 4 months with no issues, someone recently told me that they use bleach once a month. Do you use it? If so how much? I am afraid of ruining my dipes. Also, I have a front load washer.

Re: Talk to me about bleach

  • Yup. Unless you're having problems or yeast or something I would just use bleach as a matter of course. Cotton babies recommends it once a month but no other manufacturers (that I know of) do.

  • Bleach isn't going to ruin your diapers. It will fade most fitteds if you bleach them, but PUL is colorfast.

That said, if you're not having any problems, what's the point?

I use bleach every month or so for the last few months to keep rank toddler pee/poo from taking over my diapers. But before that, I never used it or even had it in the house.

  • I've only bleached (1/4 cup) when I had to strip.

  • u don't need to bleach regularly, only if u are having ammonia/stink issues or stripping. the ratio is 1/4 tbsp per gallon. if u have a fl, u can do it in the bathtub. as long as it is diluted well, it will not ruin your colors.
