Induction after Leep procedure

About 7 years ago I had a Leep procedure. I have scar tissue on my cervix that is preventing dilation. am being induced Wednesday at 41 weeks. Wondering if anyone else has been through this and how long labor was or if they had to do a c section.

  • Talk to your dr he will explain everything too you, each person is different and each situation is different as well.

  • I'm really glad you posted this because I am 39 weeks and going to the doctor on Wednesday to see if I can be induced because I have not dilated. I had a leep procedure done several years ago as well, but it never crossed my mind that it might prevent dilation. I will definitely be asking my doctor about this!
  • I agree that everyone is different. My doctor explained that it usually causes women to "stall out" between 2 and 4cm.... Then all of a sudden be fully dilated. It obviously does not happen to everyone but that is exactly what happened to me. I was at 2.5cm for what felt like forever... They checked me again I was at a 6... Then all of a sudden a 10. Overall i was in labor for 26 hours. Good luck with your inductions!
  • I had a LEEP and a CKC about 10 years ago. I ended up having cervical incompetence and had to have an emergency cerclage placed at 19 weeks.
I progressed through labor normally until I hit 9 1/2cm. After that, my cervix wouldn't budge. I ended up having an emergency c-section.
However, there are plenty of reasons why I got stuck, scar tissue could be one of them, but may not be. Also, I got very sick during labor and LO's heartbeat hit 220- that's when we did the section.
  • I had a LEEP done about 7 years ago also. I started Cytotec at 7am, dilated to a 4-5, my water was broken at 2pm and LO was born at 6:15pm. The LEEP appeared to have no effect on my labor and delivery.

  • I had this w/ DD. Labor was normal. Had to go on all 4s to push her through some scare tissue but that is it. Total was about 6 hours of labor only a few pushes and she was out. Like everyone said each is different but I wouldn't be concerned of having to have a C sec b/c of it.
