RF carseat question

where do your LO's feet/legs go?

My 12mo is on the small side, and her feet are basically touching the back of the regular seat (they are nearly hanging over the edge of the carseat, which is butted up against the back of the big person seat).  As she grows, what does she do with her legs/feet?  does this have any impact on when she goes front-facing?

This.  My DD is 21 months and over 100% for height... she is just fine RF.  As an adult, you may think she looks uncomfortable, but babies/toddlers are much more flexible than we are.  And remember, she doesn't know any different.  Often, it is more comfortable for a toddler to sit RF with her legs crossed or frog-legged than if her legs are hanging down FF. 

How much leg room she has has no bearing on when she needs to turn FF.  She can remain RF until she reaches the maximum height/weight for her seat.  USUALLY, the seat is outgrown by height when the head is within an inch from the top of the shell, however, check your manual as that is not always the case.

Yup, DS bends his knees or crosses his legs. He's quite tall for his age.

Haha OP, just remember a year ago they were folded in our bodies. They bend a lot easier than we do. (Gah I feel old!)
My 3yo still prefers to cross his legs FF (see pic) Don't worry, your kiddo will be comfortable

Our daughter hated bending her knees--she wanted to stretch out. She was so miserable in her rear facing seat that we finally just turned it around. She's 21 mos. if she hadn't cried the whole time she was scrunched in that car seat we would have kept her RF. We tried to hold out for as long as possible. Just didn't work out.

They bend their knees, put them over the side, or put them straight up the back of the vehicle seat. DD (almost 5y) is FF now, but will still take off her shoes and sit criss cross applesauce in her seat because it is uncomfortable for her feet to dangle. She happily RF until she was 3+.
