How long did you "date" before proposing?

I don't mean know each other (though you can elaborate on that in the comments), but how long did you actually date your SO before he proposed? ie: how long were you boyfriend and girlfriend?

ETA: 1-2 years means more than 1 year but less than 2 years and so on and so on

We dated just under 2 years before he proposed and then were engaged for just over 1 year.

We started dating on 3/8/08 and he proposed 12/24/10.  We had a rooooocky relationship from July of '08 until the following Christmas where we were off and on, but I still counted it in my answer.

Dated 5 1/2 years, engaged exactly 1 year. 6 1/2 years together before tying the knot, but we also started dating when I was 16 and he was 17.

We knew we wanted to get married 3 months in, and even discussed things to make sure we agreed on major aspects of marriage and family (how many kids, etc). He didn't propose until we'd been together 5 years because we felt it was important to finish college first.

We dated for 5 years before he popped the question.  We started dating during our sophomore year of college so it made sense to wait until we were graduated and had jobs.

Exactly 6 months from our first date. Looking back it sounds crazy, but hey, it's working out!

We went on one date and he was all about it... pretty much let me know he wanted to be with me.  I kept him firmly in the friend zone for 16 months before I realized I was actually in love with him.  I moved in 6 months later and he proposed another 9 months after that.  Saturday was our ten year anniversary of being together.  :x

We dated for a little over two years before he proposed and then we were engaged for two years, we got married almost 4 years to the day that we started dating.

Met Feb 2008, officially dating May 2008 (although we were probably really dating closer to March/April. Engaged Feb 2009 and married Sept 2009.

16 loooong freaking years! Although for 6 of them we were in Middle School/High School, so those probably don't count as years that we'd even consider getting married.
