Trying to Get Pregnant

18dpo, no af, bfn?

I have been searching all the forums getting information but wanted to ask for personal input?

Has anyone got their BFP really late? ... I've been using opks for 3 months and I always get my period 14 days after the positive, but not this month..but I keep getting bfns.

I guess I need to wait another week and call my dr?

I don't use OPKs, but I know that you can gear up to O and get a positive OPK without actually ovulating. I would assume that is what happened here, by 18 DPO it seems like you would have a pretty positive pregnancy test.

@theresat858 I don't think you will find many women on here who agree that you should run and get a blood test with no confirmation that you are ACTUALLY at 18DPO...regardless of those "rare" cases...

It's not nice to give false hope.

  • I've got a 15 day LP most cycles, have had up to 18 day LP. Still not pregnant. Tests don't lie, and unless you're also temping you can't know you actually O'd 18 days ago. Get an account with FF, do the tutorials, get a BBT thermometer, and start temping along with OPKs, you'll have a much better idea of what's going on with your body.

  • In the past year I've had an 18 day, 19 day, and a 20 day LP.  I wasn't pregnant any of those cycles.  It's rare, but it happens.

  • After temps confirm my O, I have, on average, a 17 day LP.  You could have Od later than you think.   You could be pregnant, or AF could be right around the corner.  I suggest you start temping if this is not your cycle.  (I have also had a 60 day cycle that ended after a round of Provera.  I was not pregnant as much as I wanted to be.)

  • Even though it's not your normal, you can have a long LP any given month. It can change or it can get wonky occasionally, so you could be having a longer LP this month. Also, if you did O with this +OPK, it could have taken up to 2 days for your to O once you got that positive OPK, which means that your DPO might be less than you think (unless you are temping and confirmed O with your chart). The other option pp mentioned... your body might have geared up to O and didn't yet or it took longer to happen.

Once again, only temping can confirm whether you O'd or not.
