I have done some research and seen the basics like stop as often as you can manage, bring enough supplies, store them in appropriate containers or have a cooler and have them in easy reach. Beyond that I am a little clueless. Husband, DS and I will be taking a 7-8 hour trip one way and I was looking for any tips and tricks everyone else has used that either worked or didn't work. How did your DS or DD handle the trip? Any life savers/ sanity savers you would recccomend?
We are traveling to family's house so we will be fine once we get there, just a little nervous about the trip.
Re: Looking for advice traveling by car with a 6-7 month old
My then 6 month old was rear facing in the middle of back of car. I sat beside her in back behind the passenger seat (empty). I removed the head rest on front seat...so I had full view out the front window, I also put the front seat all the way forward and I sat in back with my feet up on the front seat back.
It was the most comfortable 7hr drive ever!! My daughter was content with me beside her. We only had to stop twice.
We got up early and left the house before 6am as my daughter is happiest in the morning and sleeps easier then too.
Also we switched her from a bucket to convertible car seat. I think it made all the difference! She had a lot more room.
