3 month old with a cold!

Well my LO finally got a cold :( doctor told me to do saline drops and use the bulb to suction and then benedryl at night! He has a humidifier in his room as well! Just wondering if anyone had home remedies that help out with all the congestion and sneezing! Feel so bad for him!

Re: 3 month old with a cold!

  • Try the nose Frieda... Seems like it's gross but it works wonders! :) also, have him in the room when you shower so the steam can get to him. Hope he feels better soon! We also love the boogie wipes!

  • I second the nose frida and saline spray.
  • We've been having "spa sessions" in the bathroom with the hot shower running for a good 10-15 minutes at a time and that really seems to help for a little while. I will have to try the nose freida! Thanks ya'll!
  • In addition to the above we put a folded towel under the crib mattress so that LO can rest on a slight incline.

Also if you're sticking with the bulb asperator our pedi recommended coating the tip with a little Vaseline to help make it less irritable and increase suction - DS fought it for his first two colds and now suddenly doesn't seem to mind.
  • I just went through this last week. I moved her to the rock and play to sleep at night to keep her upright and help her breathe a little better.

  • Yeah he's been in his rock n play for the week! Slowly getting better!! The nurse reccommended the Benadryl but I stopped doing it after a night when I called back and they said if his nose wasn't running it was having the opposite affect :/ I was a little puzzled when they reccommended Benadryl myself!

  • My lo just started one. I elevated one side of his crib, cool mist humidifier, got saline drops I use before a nasal aspirator and am giving him coryzalia which is a homeopathic med for babies that lots of people swear by. I will let you know if it works.

  • If you can't find the nose Freida anywhere Hydrasense makes saline drops for infants and also a snot sucker ( for lack of a better word). I use the spray and then the sucker about 10 minutes later. We also have a cool mist humidifier at night. And I just recently put 1tbsp Vicks and 1tbsp water in my Scentsy warmer. It seems to have helped her congestion and not to mention my house smells delicious
