He really enjoyed anything that had different textures that he could chew on. We had a giraffe with four different things dangling from his body that he enjoyed.
My son just got Scout for his 1st bday, and he loves it as well. It's definitely a toy with some longevity to it. I remember my son really liked the Kick n Play piano play mat around that age. I got it bc of multiple people on this site that said their littles loved it.
Hmmm I don't know what scout is, I'll have to look that up.
Mine loved the O-ball, and the Baby Einstein Neptune play mat. Now at 8 months he really likes his exersaucer, and this soft piano toy he has, I can't remember who makes it... He also really likes turning pages of books, so board books are a hit.
ETA, just looked up scout, I want to get that now!

I second the jumperoo around 5 mo. Lamaze toys were great! She also got a lot of use out of the activity table from 6mo on. She loved the book Moo Baa La La La. The animal sounds we made as we read gave her the giggles.
I didn't notice any attachments to any toys until DD was much older. Now she likes anything she can can pretend to care for. She also likes making plastic pizza for DH and me in her play kitchen. She'll even tell us, "It hot, hot, hot! Be careful!"
Re: Tell me your LOs favorite toy
Not this one exactly but something similar https://www.target.com/p/go-gaga-playtime-pal-giraffe/-/A-14300795#prodSlot=medium_1_7&term=giraffe
And one of these but mickey, not mini (found it at target) He loved the heck out of it so much. He still plays with it on occasion. https://www.amazon.com/MINNIE-MOUSE-Plush-Shake-Rattle/dp/B00C7CKA4U/ref=sr_1_2?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1387040032&sr=1-2&keywords=mickey+hand+rattles
