Chunky feet and shoes

I have yet to find a pair of shoes for C that actually fit, and we've tried 12m sizes. They're too long, but nothing is deep enough! (C has Cabbage Patch feet.).

I'm not big on putting shoes on him to begin with, but it's cold and snowy. I'd feel a little ridiculous putting him in a snowsuit with socks. We have a pair of fuzzy lined boots that we bought for Christmas pics, but they don't go on his feet all the way.

Have any of you ladies discovered shoes that are deeper than others?

Re: Chunky feet and shoes

  • Ab has some what chunky feet and I've got a pair of Carter's boots for her in a size 3. They are a bit long, but her foot fits width and depth... Normally she would be in a size 2.

Does he have thick or thin socks on when you try shoes..? I found that the socks make a difference...

  • We've even tried barefoot. It doesn't help that the couple Carter's stores I tried were practically devoid of shoes...WTH? Target and Walmart were no good either. Maybe I'll shoot for the size 3 next time I'm in a Carter's with an actual selection.

C has Flinstone feet... We ended up getting shoes at Target that fit.
  • My LO has chunky feet so I got him skidders and Robeez. They are really the only ones that work and aren't squeezing his feet and leaving marks
  • I just looked up Robeez...they look awesome, but holy crap! They're expensive. C wouldn't wear them enough to make it worth it. Maybe I can mention them to MIL...she loves that sort of thing. Lol.

  • Right now the only shoes that fit C are Robeez boots but we have 3 pairs of skidders that should fit soon. I also bought moccasins but they're a 3 and still too big. His cankles and chubby feet make shoe wearing difficult as well. By the way, all but 1 pair I bought from another mom for super cheap. Her son barely wore them because he hated shoes. Look for a mom 2 mom sale facebook page or something.

  • We use Robeez. Keep an eye out on Zulily. Just Kids Store also has them for 25% off right now (or they did), and Amazon sometimes sells the discontinued styles for less.
  • Ummm I think LO has wore shoes twice  ;;)

  • We have the same issue. I bought a random pair of slippers at a consignment sale and they're all that stay on his feet.  (I even bought the CUTEST sock monkey boots... but they stay on for like... a minute.)

But I just bought two pairs at Old Navy and they seem like they might (hopefully) work... they're too long (I bought 12-18 months) but they slid on fairly easy and seem secure (especially the ones with the velcro)  https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=37874&vid=1&pid=921260002  and ... darn. the other ones were on clearance and aren't online. But check old navy. I just saw that they have a lot of fleece booties on the website that gather at the ankle... that seems to be key...  at least for my LO.

  • We bought a pair at Old Navy that fit really well. They have fake shoelaces that are elastic bands and they give his foot plenty of room. Granted they are a size 18 months, but that's what he wears in clothes so that makes sense.
  • So right after I read this post, I checked my email. I was reading my weekly baby info from TB and there was an ad on the side for PediPed. It said the entire site is 25% off with code Bump25. Just FYI!

  • I got all mine thrifting. We have a store that specializes in gently used baby clothes. I got a pair of Timberland boots that look brand new for $1 (retail is $45!). Usually it's the boots I have issues with fit because her legs are chunky and her heel doesn't want to fit inside.
