Babies: 0 - 3 Months

going back to work

My baby is 11 weeks and I'm looking for a job. My only issue is that I start crying at the thought of working full time but we need it financially. My husband wants me to go part time and he'd look for more work which I wouldn't want. I'm so torn, anyone else have this issue?, if working full time, how hard is it.?

Re: going back to work

  • It wasn't too hard for me. I'm lucky to have my mom willing to help me. She watches LO while I work 40 hrs a week. I enjoy going to work and appreciate the time I have with LO more so than when I was SAHM. I like when she cries for my breast as soon as I get home. She now cosleeps with us because I miss her during the day. I pump before leaving for work, at work and when I get home. Evenings and weekends she breastfeeds which is nice.

It`s enjoying to hear that someone else is undergoing the same process with her baby as I do. I also left to work when my son was 45 days old! I kept pumping and I was worried about him getting distracted and refusing my breast in the long run. But over time, now it is his 58th day, we came to realize that though it didn`t happen, and he never rejected me, his feeding was to be done with spoon rather than bottle in my absence. Because after one week, he got to make fuss and cry when I fed him. He preferred the continuous flow of the bottle to the breast. So my mother, who takes care of the baby in my absence, and used to stay longer hours at work when I myself was a baby, having had the same experience with me when I had rejected breastfeeding to an easier bottle, now spoon feeds him (though with difficulty but she enjoys to help out) and I am so content that he is as eager as he can be for the breast when I get home from work.
  • I work full-time and the hubs works 2 full-time jobs. Went back to work at 7 wks pp with both #1 and #2. We have no family here but were lucky enough to find a great in-home daycare provider that we love. Royally sucks and I hate not spending time with my family, but you do what you gotta do to get by.
