maybe its the texture??
I had slightly low iron counts on my blood draw so Dr suggested cream of wheat. Since I love oatmeal, I thought why not?
Not impressed, any ways to jazz it up?
I wish I could just ear lunch, eat and jerkey... so much tastier!
I love it plain, but my sister and dad smother it in butter (I know, not a healthy option) or jam or sugar. Also, if you don't stir it "enough" while cooking it gets these gooey lumps which sound gross but they're my favorite part
agree, when i was at officer school they had it every morning, gag. so gross. ewww. i would just take an iron pill

Oh my god. Me too. My grandma used to call them dumplings! I totally thought they belonged there until I was a grown up!

Yum! I hope you find a variation you like.
Make it on the stove with milk definitely - much better than with water! Also add a little more milk once it's done to cool it off before it starts getting hard. And maybe add way too much sugar to make it healthy anymore I like the way I can see the different color sugar swirls. Then it's delicious! The instant kind is always disgusting to me!
Put cold applesauce in a bowl. Dump cream of wheat that was made with milk on top. Add Brown sugar, cinnamon and syrup. Holy shit I died and went to heaven. I also take some, add jelly. Then dip toast with butter into it. For my girls I add peanut butter and maple syrup. They love it. My husband won't touch the stuff but I grew up on it. Only make it with milk! Water stuff is nasty.

Why don't you people get the maple & brown sugar instant kind? What's all this "cook on stove" and "stir enough" and "add jam?"
Get the instant one that already has a flavor! If you HAVE to get the plain one, STILL get instant... I like adding maple syrup or agave nectar and a little bit of milk.

Yes, it is. Try adding a few tablespoons of wheat germ to your oatmeal instead. Wheat germ has lots of fiber and iron. Also, buy the good oatmeal look for the kind that is steel cut - it has more fiber and vitamins too. Get something that is not sweetened or flavored and has flax seeds or chia (more iron and fiber) in it. Then add your own fresh fruit and spices. Maybe a spoonful of sugar if you really need extra sweetness. I like to bake my own apples - the leftover ones that don't get eaten and aren't bad, but are just starting to be less than crispy. Sometimes I cook them in a saucepan with a bit of water, brown sugar, butter, and cinnemon. Then I add it to my yogurt, oatmeal or spread it on toast - whatever sounds best.
Bottom line - you don't have to eat cream of wheat - ew.
I've been eating it since I was little. I like putting butter and brown sugar and milk in it. My mom said that when I was little she would put an egg in it but I can't imagine that is very tasty.
Ok I made it with water, mistake #1... I made the plain pkt when I should have started with the pre flavored pkt mistake #2...
attempting again tomorrow since I already bought a whole darn box!

thanks! these sound like viable options!

Mmm...I need to get some now. There are some things, like cream of wheat, that I don't keep in stock now as a Floridian. No cold mornings.
Or brown sugar.
Or jam
Or chocolate chips. Lol
Yes, but only because that's a terrible song ;-)
