Stopping meds and nervous!

So I had my final RE appointment and they just left me a message saying I can stop all of my meds (estrace and PIO)! I am only 7w4d so I wasn't expecting to stop THIS early and that makes me seriously nervous.

Is it normal to stop this early? Is the placenta already doing that job?

Oy! I should be excited to not have a needle in my butt every day!

My RE has us begin to taper off at 9w. 7.5 weeks sounds early to me, to be honest. Some REs go to 12w, though that might be overkill. If you have any doubt I would call back and talk to someone.

I was on vag inserts but I had extra so I just kept taking them and talked to my ob and he refilled my prescription. I don't know about the shots but if your not comfortable stopping and if you have extra could you just keep doing it until 8 weeks? It's only 3 more days but it would make me feel more comfortable.

I was told I would be tapering off not going cold turkey starting at 8 weeks.  Can you call back and ask about that?  I only do PIO every other day (and 3x daily vag supps of progesterone).  Maybe instead of doing every day you can do a few of EOD?  As for the estrace are you on one or two a day?  Again I'd look to maybe a few days of lower dose or every other day before just stopping.  But that's me.

Honestly that does sound a little early.  Based on previous posts on here about this it seems like 10 weeks is pretty average and some even go to 12.  If you mention that you're concerned, your RE might tell you to start weaning instead of going cold turkey if it makes you more comfortable.  However, they are the experts and do this all the time, so it might be just fine.

Thanks for the responses ladies! I did call them back to confirm what the nurse said in my voicemail and she was like "yeah, he says you can stop your meds" and when I said it seemed early she said that the heartbeat was good and the blood work looked good, so basically the placenta should be taking over.

That said, I still have 6ml of progesterone left and I may just go until the bottle is finished just to make myself feel a little more comfortable and I will be past the 8 week mark by then! (Not that I WANT to wake up for butt shots every morning!)

I *think* kflynn may have been weaned off meds that early and everything turned out perfectly fine for her, my clinic has you wait until 12w.

I would trust your gut with this one and if it would make you feel better to stay on it, so be it. It wont hurt anything.

I went cold turkey at 10w3d. But my RE didn't do blood work to verify levels, it was just assumed that they'd be fine. We also had 2 beta appts and 3 ultrasound appts. They stopped pio when she said the ultrasound showed achange in the uterus - something about a white thick ring that wasnt there on prior ultrasounds that indicated things were good.
