Minecraft Question

SS is currently obsessed with MC. He gets on the server and plays with friends at school.

I would like to get him something MC relate for Christmas but I have no idea what the game even is. Are there things that go with it? Accessories? Do you pay for it?

I'm so confused. Please halp.

Re: Minecraft Question

  • At first I was like "Children should be LEARNING at school! Teach that whipper snapper to behave and quit playing games!"

Then I saw that he is 3 years old and was like "Oh. yeah, that's fine for a preschooler to learn through play."

  • Awww mine too.... Last year I got him T shirts, he loved them.  This year I found a couple minecraft novels on amazon.  They also have...

Minecraft Legos,  action figures,  hoodies, beanies, wallets, various toys such as pixeled mining picks.

    I'm so sick of minecraft.

I don't think she has a ticker for her SS @LuckyDad. I would bet he's closer to my DS's age. And I think she's talking about playing at home over the internet with school friends. READ BETTER!
Ah, I did mistake on the SS part. But "plays with friends at school." to me implies he is playing while he is at school on school computers. Instead of doing homework.

Well, the options in life tend to be 1) Make your own, using internet print-outs and a bit of craftiness or 2) bend over and buy the overpriced thing.

...or buy things that aren't overpriced.
Although you have a point, this doesn't always work with branded stuff. Especially with kids, who want things to look the "right" way.

  • Here's a link to one of the books.

    https://www.amazon.com/Invasion-Overworld-A-Minecraft-Novel/dp/1490930833/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1386871560&sr=8-2&keywords=mine+craft+books

There's a couple of them, but make sure to read the reviews.  "Cubeworld"  doesn't seem to be appropriate for children (Sexual Abuse content)  but the other 2 I saw seem like they should be fine.

Posters might be another good idea, I'm sure they have them.

I would say your last statement rules out the "homemade off the internet" version you originally proposed.

In many cases, yes. Although with the minecraft axe because it's pixelated I feel like you actually *could* make a good homemade version if you were good. I'm pretty sure I've seen some good cosplay versions. But the labor involved probably wouldn't be worth it for anyone but poor college students or high schoolers.

  • OMG. I totally thought this was a thread about Minesweeper. I was about to come in here and be like "YES! I loved that game! One of the best time wasters during computer class!"

I loved Minesweeper so hard. My high scores made my mom mad cuz she could never come close to beating them.

  • Holy crap, I came back to check this thread and it has blown up.

It is for my stepson, sorry @luckydad I should have said he plays with a friend from school. All playing in our house happens after homework is done.

These are great suggestions guys, thanks!! I am so mad because I ordered him a bazinga T-shirt from think geek and didn't think to look for anything Minecraft as well.

  • This reminds me I need to get my ass to target to take advantage of the Buy One, Get One 50% off on Fisher Price! That's a better deal than Amazon, assuming they have the one I want.
