Out of my OB's league

My OB has said I'm out of her league and I've been told to go to an RE.  My consultation is Dec 17th.  So I guess I don't get to try a cycle of just clomid, she took it off the table.

The RE only does IUI and IVF, but rarely IUI.  My insurance also doesn't cover IUI, so it would be 100% out of pocket.  I just don't think we're at the point of IVF right now and IUI seems a bit extreme if clomid could solve my problem.  So we'll see what the RE says, but I'm not going into it with the best attitude.  I'm also taking it really really hard that it has gotten to this point.  I never thought I'd ever need an RE. (I'm sure none of you did)

Praying for a Christmas miracle that we make a baby on Christmas (I'll ovulate somewhere around there most likely). I'm CD1 today after a stupid 16 day LP where I spotted for 5 days.

Re: Out of my OB's league

  • I don't think this is totally a bad thing - The RE will be more aggressive and I think at this point answers and action is key. It is good your OB didn't jack off for another 6 months and waste your time.

I'm sorry about CD 1 (hugs) I'm about to join you there!

I agree that a referral to an RE is not a bad thing.  I'm currently in a frustrating holding pattern with my OB, so I would love to get things moving along.  I totally understand the hesitation with jumping steps though.  Hopefully the RE will start with the option that is best for your body.  Good luck!  Let us know how your appointment goes next week.

  • Awe Good Luck! I agree a referral to an RE isn't a bad thing.  I too wish he would have sent us earlier, but my ob didn't diagnose me correctly either. ((HUGS))

  • Thanks for the encouragement! I'm going to get more positive about the RE... maybe she will work with me instead of just shoving me toward IVF right away.
