Ok so my cousin, her husband, and their LO who is 6 weeks younger than my LO drove to Louisiana for thanksgiving. My cousin just told me that while they were driving their LO started screaming and crying and instead of pulling over or stopping somewhere she just took him out of his car seat!!!! Are you flucking kidding me?????? You risk your child's life out of convenience so your trip isn't longer? Oh my god I am furious right now. Ugh I had to get that vent out and don't have anyone else here except my mom and LO and my mom probably wouldn't see anything wrong with it.

She knows it's illegal!!! Her husband saw a cop coming up behind them with his lights on and said if he's not in his seat then you better put him in because there's a cop coming. He wasn't going after them unfortunately. But she knew it was illegal and only put him back because she didn't want to get a ticket. I am just flabbergasted at how stupid they are.

Sooooo irresponsible. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to take DD out of her seat and just hold her. But I have not and will never do it. Screaming in the car seat sucks for everyone. But her safety is way, way higher on the importance scale.

Terrible... If she doesn't think that is dangerous who know what else she does! It's so hard to watch people make parenting mistakes that risk the child's safety.

That is ridiculous. Some people shouldn't be allowed to procreate and continue to spread dumb genes. When we were in completely stopped traffic at the border waiting to go through inspections I once nursed Lo really quickly while we were in park mode the whole time but I still feel guilty about it.

Ugh. My grandmother and mother both suggested that I nursed LO in the backseat while on a 250 mile road trip when she was 2 months old. Fuck that, I would never jeopardize her. No one gets in their car thinking "this is the day I'm going to be in an accident" yet it happens 10 million times every year in the US with 35,000 deaths.

You never know when something bad is going to happen and it's not worth risking my child's life over. My LO will either have to cry until we get where we're going if we're close or I will pull over for him. He is way more important than not tacking on an extra hour to my trip. I am so glad nothing happened but extremely disappointed in my cousin for thinking what she did was ok.
