For those who do not know PGAL is Pregnant After A Loss. We welcome anyone who has had a chemical pregnancy, miscarriage, still birth or loss of a child and are now pregnant again. Being pregnant after a loss comes with a lot of emotions and, while we're thrilled to be here, it's scary as well. Hopefully we can use this check-in to find support and friendship in other women going through the PGAL experience.
Note: I have tried to stay on top of the announcements but if you see that I have missed someone who should be in the PAL graduate or honored sister group, please let me know! Thanks!

Re: ~~PGAL Check In~~
How many weeks? 33w4d today
Symptoms? I'm uncomfortable a lot, sleep is really difficult, I've been really miserable, BH contractions, peeing a lot, more crampiness the last few days, my back is starting to really bother me (although I feel lucky that it has been pretty good throughout this pregnancy so far)
Any updates or appointments coming up that you'd like to share? I see my OB again on Monday.
GTKY: Christmas/the holidays are coming! What is your favorite holiday song? What is your favorite holiday tradition? What are you looking forward to the most this holiday season?
I love Christmas! The entire season makes me so happy. I love the snow, the music, family getting together, buying presents, I could go on! We have a lot of traditions in my family, some of my favourites are - our tree decorating party at my moms house, getting new pi's on Christmas Eve, and everyone having breakfast at my moms house on Christmas morning. I am looking forward to the entire holiday season, but I'm also just so excited to be pregnant and so close to bringing home my baby girl, this year seems extra exciting.
How many weeks? 34wks1d
Symptoms? I got the waddle. Sleeping fluctuates; some nights I sleep so well, followed by 1 or 2 nights of constant waking up and insomnia (sometimes it's hard to breathe and not even lying on my left side helps).
Any updates or appointments coming up that you'd like to share? I've graduated to weekly OB appointments, had my strepB test at 33wks and so far all looks good
GTKY: Christmas/the holidays are coming! What is your favorite holiday song? What is your favorite holiday tradition? I love ALL christmas songs - my favourites are Holy Night, Silent Night and O Come O Come Emmanuel. My favourites Christmas tradition is having christmas eve dinner at my parents house (we put hay underneath the table cloth and share with each other the 'wafer' and wish everyone a merry christmas, and also set an extra spot at the table - symbolically meant to represent a spot for Jesus or for someone in need...)
What are you looking forward to the most this holiday season?
I am most looking forward to making new Christmas memories. Last year, we surprised our whole family by telling them we were 8wks pregnant. We did the whole gifts for grandma and grandpa, videotaped their reactions etc etc. it was a super happy time, but 3wks later followed by my loss at the beginning of 2nd trimester...

How many weeks? 36 weeks!!
Symptoms? some hip discomfort, starting to get uncomfortable while sleeping, the usual but nothing too bad...
Any updates or appointments coming up that you'd like to share? Had my 36 week appointment last night! I had to do the strep B swab so I asked if she would do a cervical check while she was down there. I am apparently already a centimeter dilated, my cervix is softening and moving forward but she can still push LO's head out of my pelvis so he is not fully engaged. I guess I lost my mucus plug at some point but never saw it. I am actually kinda sad about that, I really wanted to see it and know when it came out (I know I am weird) So LO could make an earlier appearance or I could hang out at this stage for another 4 weeks! We shall see.
I also chatted with my mid wife about the different labor aids available at my hospital and they have everything I wanted to try (squat bar, exerciser ball, tubs to labor in, mirrors) my mid wives are also very open to birthing in whatever position and where ever I want. (she said she had one woman deliver in the corner of the room while doing a wall sit) I was starting to get a little nervous about delivering in a hospital I was not familiar with but I feel so much better after our talk!
GTKY: Favorite song: "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas"
Favorite tradition: making hot chocolate and apple cider and drinking it before we open presents.
I am really looking forward to having time off around Christmas this year (my last day of work is the 20th) I will get to bake and really enjoy the holiday for the first time in 3 years! (That is unless LO makes an early appearance, then I will just enjoy the time with my new little family)
BFP#5 Praying for another rainbow in February!
How many weeks? 35w1d
Symptoms? Peeing, huge, uncomfortable, BH...you name it
Any updates or appointments coming up that you'd like to share? Ultrasound tomorrow to check on his growth and make sure my placenta isn't covering my C-section scar so I can get the oK to VBAC!
GTKY: Christmas/the holidays are coming! What is your favorite holiday song? What is your favorite holiday tradition? What are you looking forward to the most this holiday season? I love EVERYTHING holiday!!
How many weeks? 35 weeks 2 days down, 780 hours to go - according to my husband.
Symptoms? Sciatic, heartburn, BH, if it CAN hurt more during pregnancy it does. Then there's the insomnia which I am not enjoying except it lets me get updated on the bump.
Any updates or appointments coming up that you'd like to share? I see my OB tomorrow, then I start seeing a new special high risk OB on Monday, Ultrasound next Thursday and another OB appointment sometime next week. Having 2 OB appointments a week and an ultrasound is driving my PgAL paranoia to new levels.
GTKY: Christmas/the holidays are coming! What is your favorite holiday song? a really well done version of carol the bells
What is your favorite holiday tradition? My parents and my sister and my husband and I spend Christmas day doing a giant crossword puzzle put out by the newspaper. it takes the 5 of us all day. I love it.
What are you looking forward to the most this holiday season? Resting from work, getting the last minute chores done that I need to do before this baby shows up.
I can't wait to meet you Neva Margaret Rebecca
How many weeks? 35w4d!
Symptoms? Starting to get lower back pain and to just generally feel really uncomfortable (I guess I'm lucky it took this long).
Any updates or appointments coming up that you'd like to share? Update - had an NST and u/s cuz I was worried about some weird pain yesterday - baby is already 6lbs7oz and all his organs are measuring 2-4 weeks ahead. My cervix is starting to efface too - midwife thinks LO won't make it to his due date. I'm already an impatient person so now I am just really having trouble focusing on anything else! At least I have the holidays to somewhat distract me.
GTKY: Christmas/the holidays are coming! What is your favorite holiday song? What is your favorite holiday tradition? What are you looking forward to the most this holiday season? Fave song - O Holy Night and also some Polish carols. For the other questions its hard to pick just one, so many little things I love about Christmas, I guess mainly the family time. I'm most looking forward to only seeing our 2 families out of 3 (DH's mom lives out of town and I can't travel so close to my due date). It has been very hard doing 3 Christmases including 1 thats 1.5 hours away within the span of 24 hours. From now on I am putting my foot down that we can see DH's mom the weekend before or after Christmas, but my kids won't be dragged to three different houses on Christmas for their childhoods!
Symptoms? GERD, HG, extreme hip/pelvic pain, BH
Any updates or appointments coming up that you'd like to share? Weekly appt & NST tomorrow
GTKY: Christmas/the holidays are coming! What is your favorite holiday song? Tie between White Christmas & Christmas is All Around Us (from love actually)
What is your favorite holiday tradition?
DH and I always say presents are from random famous people or characters from books/tv. Last year She-Ra gave DH He-Man on DVD.
What are you looking forward to the most this holiday season? Spending quality time with DH before we become a family of 3!
How many weeks? 36 weeks
Symptoms? BHs, peeing all the time, my maternity clothes don't fit and my belly button has completely popped out.
Any updates or appointments coming up that you'd like to share? Appointment last week - everything looks good! I love those appointments.
GTKY: Christmas/the holidays are coming! What is your favorite holiday song? What is your favorite holiday tradition? What are you looking forward to the most this holiday season?
I love so many Christmas songs! I really can't pick a favorite, or even a top 5. I love them all!
I am excited for DD#2 to make her appearance sometime during the holiday season or shortly after, obviously. But I am also very excited for DD#1 to experience Christmas. She's 2 1/2 so obviously has been through Christmas before, but she's able to understand it so much better this year. It's so fun!

GTKY: Christmas/the holidays are coming! What is your favorite holiday song? What is your favorite holiday tradition? What are you looking forward to the most this holiday season?
I love Christmas music! My favorite song is probably "Have yourself a merry little Christmas." Traditionally we spend Christmas with our families. This will be the first year that it will be just the two of us. I'm looking forward to having our own Christmas this year and just relaxing a bit at home.

GTKY: Christmas/the holidays are coming! What is your favorite holiday song? What is your favorite holiday tradition? What are you looking forward to the most this holiday season? I love anything from The Carpenters' Christmas CD. I could sing it all day. My favorite traditions are making cookies with my mom and wrapping presents with my sister; I can't wait to make and eat cookies!
