Colic survey

Ok so statistics say that colic starts around 3 weeks old. Just curious to see how many moms have lo's with colic. Anyone have a lo who doesn't have it? Avery is only a week old but I'm already worrying about it...

Re: Colic survey

  • My understanding is that colic actually starts about 2-3 weeks after baby's due date, so if your LO was 2 weeks early, it wound start when they are 4-5 weeks old. I could be wrong though.

Regardless, I think we're in the clear. DS is almost 7 weeks, and although he's gotten fussier in the last week or so, ours definitely not colic levels of fuss.

  • That's interesting PP. Baby I was a week late and her colic started at about 1 week and it totally sucks.

  • Not one of my 3 kids has had it.  I really, really am counting my blessings.

  • I think we lucked out this time around.  LO is over a month and never cries for no reason.  DD2 cried what felt like all day everyday from 7 days to 7 months and then just...stopped.
  • I'm pretty sure my 3 1/2 week old has it, based off everything I've read. Its very frustrating for all of us, I just want her to feel better! In my trials, I has found the colic calm helps, plus I'm almost finished reading The Happiest Baby on the Block and I will say, the past 2 days of implementing his beliefs have helped me immensely! But every baby is different so what works for us, may not work for you, but it could be worth a shot. Not that she doesn't still cry, but she doesn't cry for long periods like she did 3 days ago. Good luck!
  • I think we're in the clear. She gets gassy now and then and sometimes cries when she has to poo, but mostly she's pretty calm. She's 6.5 wks, 4.5 weeks past edd.

  • DS has colic. It started just before 3 weeks. He'll be 6 weeks Thursday. He has reflux and has done better since he started Zantac two weeks ago. He was still having tummy troubles and allergies are suspected, so he's on a hypoallergenic formula now. As far as the suggestions in the Happiest Baby on the Block, those are great for a fussy baby, but won't do much for a colicky baby.
  • This is a constant worry of mine since babies on both sides of the family had it. DS is just over 5 weeks and were good so far. I'm hoping it stays away because I've heard horror stories about it. ODS didn't have it either thank goodness.

  • Thankfully, no colic here (at least not yet, she's only 2 weeks old). And she doesn't usually get too gassy. I did discover that I can't eat spaghetti sauce or maybe it was the garlic bread. LO is EBF and the day after I had spaghetti and garlic bread for dinner she was super gassy and spitting up a lot (she doesn't normally) and just all around unhappy all day, but was fine the next day. Makes me sad though....I love spaghetti.

  • My first had it starting at 4 days old. My second was ok and I hope we are in the clear this time, LO is 5 weeks today. Hang in there mommies dealing with it, I remember how hard that was.
  • I think we are in the clear (thankfully)! DS is 9 weeks old.
