We are inherently lazy about decorating for the holidays so for the past few years we put up a tree with white lights (on the less lazy years we add blue lights) and hang candy canes on it. I love the simplicity of it and we don't have to worry about broken ornaments. We put it up today.
Holy shit. How tall is that tree?! And your ceilings?!
In case you can't tell, what shade of green my face is, it's pea green.
The tree is 12 feet. Our house is oddly shaped---it is 2 floors, but there are no bedrooms over that part of the house. So we have 3 bedrooms on an L-shape on one side of the house, but that room just goes straight up. If that makes any sense at all We bought my childhood home and that room was a complete add on.
Honestly? That room is a pain in the ass all around. It doesn't heat because of insulation well. The windows are a pain to clean. And if the lights ever go out we can't really change the bulbs easily. There is no cable hook up---so no tv in that room and even if there were the windows would create a major glare.
Our family room/tv room is TINY---we can't even fit a real sofa in it---just a love seat and a single chair
