City Mini double stroller?

Does anyone have this? Does it seem to fit through most doorways? My son will be 18 months when number two arrives and we are having a hard time figuring out which double stroller is right for us. The tandem ones feel like your are pushing a train around but I'm worried the side by side would be hard to fit through doorways at Dr offices and such(our family is at the drs every week for appts) what are your thoughts? Thanks so much!

Re: City Mini double stroller?

  • My friend has one, hers are close to the same gap as yours will be. She loves it and it has gone through every door I've seen her go through.
Mine are 19 months apart and I just wear my youngest and my eldest goes in my GT.

  • It should be fine. I have a Valco Snap Dual that leaves plenty of space in standard doorways.

FWIW my boys are 19 months apart and the side by side works great. If you are looking at the City Mini consider looking at the Snap. It is lighter, slightly more narrow, and has a bigger basket than the City Mini. It also folds flat like the city mini. It also comes with separate bumper bars that you can remove. It pushes 1 handed too. You should be able to get a great deal on one as well right now.

  • I have the City Mini and love this stroller.  I have been using it for almost three years now and it is still in good condition!  I love the flat fold, the ease of pushing, the awesome sunshades ( I like that they are individual shades, so I can put one down and leave the other up for the awake kid)  The basket is a little small, but I just use it to stuff coats or shopping bags.  I hang my diaper bag from the handle.
I take it everywhere, even the mall and I fit pretty much everywhere.

  • Thanks everyone! Strollers have been stressing me out haha! Does anyone know if the GT is worth the extra cash or just stick with the normal?

I think the GT pushes a bit better, especially when the riders are bigger and heavier.  You can also find the GT double for $399 right now from several retailers which is an awesome deal.

I've been trying to decide this, too, but I noticed that the GT is quite a bit heavier than the regular City Mini Double. Although I love the air-filled tires (we have a single BOB, so I know they work much better in snow and on trails), the GT seems too heavy for me to manage easily.

I would really consider the Valco Snap Dual in that case.  The push is really good and it's lighter than the regular CM double.  Heck it's lighter than most single strollers!

We went on vacation in May and since we were flying I didn't want to take my CM Double so I rented a CM Double GT at our destination.

I didn't notice a difference in the way the handled/maneuvered.  They both handle really well.  The GT had a few extra features that I really liked so it just depends on if you want to pay more money for the extras.  I liked that it had a hand brake instead of a foot brake.  I found it easier to use than the foot brake.  I also like the air filled tires because the stroller sits a little higher and I liked the adjustable handlebar.

All that said, I don't know if all those features are worth the extra money.  The one thing that would definitely make the GT worth it is if you take a lot of walks over uneven terrain.  In that case, then the GT does handle better and it would be worth it.

You really can't go wrong with either stroller.

She's asking about the GT because of the air filled wheels, something the Valco doesn't have.

FWIW, the GT wheels are not air filled. They are foam.  I suggested the Valco because it also has foam wheels which are larger and good for some terrain.  Also, she was concerned about the weight of the GT which was why I brought it up.

The GT wheels are in fact air filled.  I've touched them myself.  They are made out of the same materials as the back wheels of the City Select. Forever air= air filled.

A side note you will be able to get air filled tires for the Snap next year, although I doubt that they are needed for most people. I've taken mine through just about everything without an issue. The Valco Zee does have air filled tires available but your getting into a heavier stroller and $$$.

I don't want to argue here but that is not right.  This is from the Q&A page.  I have a single GT.  I also have a BOB and those are what I would consider air tires.  As in I actually fill them with air.  If you don't need an air pump, they are not air.
A Forever-Air tire is a rubber tire inflated with a lightweight foam instead of air. This ensures the tire will not go flat with frequent use or rough terrain. The City Mini GT, City Elite and City Select both feature Forever-Air tires.

  • I stand corrected about the forever air tires.  They sound better than regular air tires anyways because you don't need to worry about them deflating :)
