Acupuncture anyone??

Wanting to give my IPs the best chance of the transfer working in Jan so been doing allot of reading online & have seen some good things about acupuncture.
Well just wanted to come on here & ask if anyone has done it & if so how did you like it? Did you think it helped? How many times did you go & when?

There are many protocols and I've done it for every transfer. The first 3 times, I went 1x for 4 weeks or so before transfer week. Then that week, a day before, and 2 and 4 days after. I got a solid pregnancy the first time (fresh transfer), a c/p and a bfn. Did it help? I don't know but it made me calmer for sure which was helpful to me regardless.

this time, we did a whole different protocol. I went 2 days before transfer, and the 30 minute treatment before transfer and a 30 minute treatment after transfer (that same day). And so far I've gotten a bfp at home!

my acupuncturist is $85 a session.

Many women like it, I'm one of the odd few that doesn't. The cycles I used acupuncture on were massive failures, and the most successful ones were the one I didn't do it at all. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I agree with both PP. I did it bc it helped relieve my stress, both physical and mental, during my IVF cycles. However, if it doesn't feel good to you I doubt it would be helpful. My advice would be to give it a try and if you enjoy it, ask your acu what he/she suggests.

I do acupuncture and @Manada plans to do a couple treatments immediately before/after the transfer. We've heard so many good things about its positive effect and we're lucky to have coverage for the costs of acupuncture so we decided to do it. I like it. M's not a fan. I would recommend that you give it a try ahead of time if you can afford to so that you're not stressed about it immediately before the transfer.

Yup - Like @Liz4Paws I also hate acupuncture.  It's too bad because I generally have no problem with needles, and I'm all about the complimentary therapies, but I hate the sensation of acupuncture (that nerve zinging feeling), and I generally don't find it that relaxing at all.  Most of what I've heard is that it's probably better just not to do it then....

That said, I've agreed to do a couple of treatments around our IVF cycle, because I've heard it works....   I'm not looking forward to them though.

My RE offers acupuncture and it's nothing like going to the acupuncture place in town. It's all electronic and they do the areas only proven in previous studies. They do some areas before ET and some areas after.  But previous posters, I don't like either version, but I do think the electronic one relaxed me or the idea that it is supposed to help relaxes me. So I'd do it again.

i LOVE acupuncture.  I find it to be extremely relaxing.  The studies my acupuncturist follows recommend 9 sessions (with e-stim) the month before IVF and then 1 the day before & 1 within an hour after.  I did it this time & for my first IVF.  I didn't do it for my 2nd IVF & found I was more anxious.  I would certainly recommend you looking into it - - it can't hurt, right?

I started acupuncture because I've heard success stories about it.  I did it right before my first IVF transfer and it worked!  It wasn't my most favorite experience but I was willing to try and luckily it helped!  Good luck!!!!

I'm not a fan. But it takes a lot to relax me... I'd be just better off watching one if my lame reality shows and chillin in the couch! GL
