Okay, so I haven't been diligent in getting the weekly check-in posted! I apologize - I read all of your posts, but typically it has been from my phone/ipad so it isn't the greatest place to write a weekly post... I am going to be more diligent in getting this posted every week!
Welcome to all of the newbies! I'm excited to hear where everyone is at!

1) What process are you/have you been involved with in the fostering/adopting world?
We are foster/adopt. Got called for our first/current placement 10 days after getting our license. Newborn Baby girl that we picked up from the hospital.
Drinking hot chocolate? Probably skiing, I live about 45 minutes away from Lake Tahoe so we have some great snow here.
Domestic Infant Adoption. DS placed 7/29/13.
YAY: Baby is awesomely amazing and cute.
UGH: We are getting no where with finalization. Our lawyer needs one piece of paper from our agency to finalize and he doesn't know why he doesn't have it. Our agency keeps telling us that we fall within the normal realm of the finalization process- Baby is 19 weeks old- I know most baby's at this agency finalize by 7 months- in my area that means you need to be on the court docket by about 4.5-5 months. So I'm seriously pissed off.
We started eating cereals this week!
Staying inside ant watching snow fall.
2. Adoptive mom
3. Things are finally getting moving. We finished our profile and got the books printed and are on our agency's website. We are in the middle of our homestudy.
4.I start a new job tomorrow.
5. Staying in around the fire.
Prospective adoptive parent
Ugh - We're waiting on I-800A approval. It's frustrating that it takes so long. We had our biometrics taken over a month ago.
I love cross country skiing. I haven't skied much at all since I've had kids, but have promised myself that I'm going to make an effort to get out on the trails more often this year.
Son #2 - October '11
Son #3 - Hoping to adopt from China some time in 2014!

3) just waiting still! We had a potential situation that fizzled pretty quickly, but no word since then. Yay: we ended up with a three day weekend due to Icemageddon, and it's been nice to get a few things done around the house and to relax with DH. Ugh: this Christmas season is going to be a little maudlin, yet another Christmas without a babe in my arms and the first since FIL's passing.
4) I love our town's annual tree lighting festival and wassail competition, but it got iced out this weekend. :-/
Ughs - I emailed our social worker about scheduled the education class because we are going to be busy the day she was thinking about and I haven't heard back yet. I don't want to push, but that was like 2 weeks ago. And all 5 of our references said they mailed their paperwork back but they only 3 out of 5. The office manager just said that sometimes the post office down there is "really slow". It's been nearly 3 weeks. UGH indeed!
TTC # 1 Since October 2010 (Not preventing since 2009)
November 2013: Applied & Accepted by the Agency
January 2014: Home Study, education class, Profiles
February 2014: "Officially Waiting"
1) DIA
2) EMom
3) 4) recently spent the whole day with Adia's (my LO) PAP's at their house and it was incredibly reassuring to get a glimpse of the life she'll have and see her future room. PAMom finally ordered the crib and is registering for her shower. I'm due in 5 weeks but measuring 2 weeks ahead with minimal weight gain, so I'm relieved on her behalf to have things ready for Adia's arrival.
Ugh- my personal/ family life has been a complete nightmare the last couple of weeks. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed b/c this had been by far the most difficult year of my life, and next year I place my baby for adoption. Trying to trust God's plan in this and the strength he'll give me to pull through, but Satan keeps reminding me how weak I am and how I deserve it for getting myself in this situation.
4) Lights before Christmas at the zoo, complete with soap snow (b/c real snow usually melts within a foot of exiting the snow machine around here)!
Foster/adopt
Hopeful foster/adoptive mom
Ugh- The state wanted more info and DH and I keep forgetting to send in the form. I get to work each day so pissed that we forgot again. This is the last thing in our hands and we are completely dropping the ball.
I was supposed to do an egg donation in January but they found a cyst and want to monitor it so now it probably will be pushed back if it happens at all.
Yay- I am pretty much done with the class I was teaching so I am down to one job until next summer.
I got a title change and small raise at work.
Huddling under blankets on the couch, as far from the cold as possible. When I win the lottery this will be changed to spending the winters somewhere tropical.
UGH - We still don't have a court date for TPR. Our SW says that the BM didn't want to associate the holidays with going to court, so she wants to delay it until sometime in January. I understand the BM's feelings, but it does put a damper on us feeling secure in starting our family here... I am not planning on sending out Christmas cards this year since I feel bummed about this.
Anything indoors! Seriously, it's freezing in Wisconsin during the winter. If it's sunny and slightly warm, then I don't mind going out cross country skiing or for a walk in our neighborhood.
1/13 Decided to pursue DIA, 4/13 Home study Approved 9/13 Matched!
10/13 DS home with us! 2/14 TPR completed 5/14 ADOPTION IS FINAL!
3/14 Surprise BFP 11/14 DD is here!
Hello all~
I'm a newbie to the board. My DH and I are just starting the adoption process. I have chronic health problems and am choosing adoption as the best route to complete our family. We are hoping for a newborn this first time around; We want the baby experience since we are first time parents.
1)What process are you/have you been involved with in the fostering/adopting world? DH and I are gathering the necessary HS documents and trying to figure out which agency to go with.
2) Who are you in the triad? Hopeful adoptive mom
3) How are things going lately? Any YAYs or UGHs happening? Let's hear them! Today, specifically, I'm feeling overwhelmed by trying to figure out which agency to go with. *sigh*
4) What's the most recent accomplishment for you/your family? Not adoption related... But this past Thanksgiving, I successfully made a turkey that was neither undercooked nor burnt. Does that count?
5) QOTW... What is your favorite winter activity!? Since we live in Florida, our favorite activity is going to the Manatee Viewing Center in Apollo Beach. When the temps drop, the manatees like to hang out there in the warm water.

Hi ladies in a newbie here. I have lurked from town to time and last year did a brief intro because we went to our first meeting for foster adoption. We sexed back then to continue with IVF so I went back to the IFs board. But now were back ... Went to a different company and last Monday had our first meeting with then and offically filled out our first packet of info and sent it in This week. We still have frozen embryos and will use them as well.

Slow..in Home Study Process. Getting Physicals next week. Almost finished with the paper gathering (I think). Had one home visit but will be getting many more at the start of the year. Hoping in a month or two it will be finished :-)
Just keeping working through the paperwork.
I live in Southern Florida so Winter does not really come here. I like to decorate the house for the holidays, bake cookies and just spend time with family :-)
