Babies: 3 - 6 Months

transition to bottle....

Hi ladies! LO is 3.5 months and I'm trying to transition her to a bottle of pumped milk. I've been trying for almost two weeks now.... once or twice a day. She HATES IT. Sometimes she even cries at the sheer sight of the bottle. I've gotten her to the point where she will accept the nipple into her mouth, and she knows there is milk in there, but she just won't suck. I've tried Dr. Brown's, Playtex Nurser, Playtex Vent-Air, and Tommee Tippee. Tommee Tippee seems to be the one I've had the most luck with.... just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice on technique?
I try to walk with her, rock her, swaddle, etc....... and I usually try at second feeding of the day, and not when she is starving.....

TIA!

Re: transition to bottle....

  • Have someone else try. At first LO wouldn't take a bottle from me. Everyone else, he took it fine. After a few weeks he would take one from me. Now it's not a prob transitioning from breast to bottle and back.

  • I have the same issue. Although my little girl won't even take the bottle from someone else. She did in the beginning but now even if I'm gone she'll eat maybe an ounce for the whole day until I'm back. Recently I had more lack with glass Gerber bottles. She will suck a little bit, it seems like these nipples work better for her (I had Tomme Tippee and Avent before) I hope it'll get better for us!
