Hi everyone! I'm new to this board, but everyone seems so friendly and it seems you all have some great insight to offer! Hope I can be of some help too! DH and I have been TTC for about 7 months after stopping BC in May. DH is 25 and I'm 23. We have been married since June 2012. I work with infants and cannot wait to be a mother myself! Super excited to get to know everyone on here!

Re: Newbie

  • If you don't mind me asking...how was it stopping BC?  I am looking to stop taking in Feb and am wondering how it went for you.
  • @jb123111 it actually has been pretty good. I am realizing now that there were many side effects of BC that I was dealing with and I didn't even realize it at the time (loss of libido, moodiness, etc). However, I didn't have a period on BC (nuvaring) for about 4 years and now my cycle is really messed up. My first AF didn't come til July and The last cycle was 8 weeks and the one before was 9. I never know when to expect AF. I think after we have a baby ( hopefully it'll be soon) I won't return to BC because of side effects.

  • Hey I use to work with small kids too and I'm also new to this thing. Have you tried a period tracker app for your phone? I mean once it regulates itself the tracker is a great tool. I wasn't expecting to get pregnant but I was able to go back and line up the day I ovulated and the day I conceived. I feel like my cycle just got on track and then bam I got pregnant. I stopped BC for medical reasons abt 8 months ago.

Those apps are useless. A phone app cannot tell you when you conceived or when you'll ovulate unless you're using it to input daily temperature information from a basal body thermometer. OP, you got some excellent advice on TTGP. Start with the tutorials on fertilityfriend.com and buy a BBT.

I think different things work for different people but I'm not an expert on TTC. I think the tracker was a good thing for me to have but that might not work for her. Either way I hope things work out in her favor and soon!

While it is true that different things work for different people, this is not one of the times that line works. The phone trackers are completely useless. They go based on estimates and "textbook" assumptions. Your body is unique to you and is not like anyone elses. Without inputting ACTUAL data, you are not going to get any ACTUAL data out of the tracker. If you want to track, use an app like fertilityfriend or similar, which requires you to pay attention to what your body is doing and input some information BEFORE it gives you any output.

It didn't give unique data that is true. I'm sure there are things out there that a far more useful, which is great. I was unaware of all the tools that were out there.
