How long for TY notes?

I tried Googling to see how long a time period is o.k. to send thank you's after receving a gift after baby is born. I could only find info. for baby showers.
How long would you say can go before sending TY's after receiving gifts after Lo's born?
Baby's sleeping, and I think I'll join him. So, they're still not getting written. :-/

asap so that when the baby is more needy later you dont have them hanging over your head?  

i'm one to talk though.  i have a list of the post birth gifts we've received, and the thank you notes.  but havent written any since before she was born.

I've always targeted 2 weeks for all TY notes. With postpartum gifts I've failed miserably. I am thinking the recipients will understand (I hope).

I do them right away or it takes me forever and then I can 't keep track of who sent what. I write them when I am pumping ( hands free).
