3 car seats across?

Does anyone have a SUV that can fit 3 car seats across/ I tried searching the internet, but it is totally overwhelming. I need two infant seats and 1 big convertible seat. Cost is not a huge deal breaker because I have no problem buying used.
Thanks girls!!

Re: 3 car seats across?

  • Look at carseatdata.org lots of three across configs in the forums. However, buying used car seats is not recommended, you don't know the history of the seat and you can be putting your kids' lives in danger. You can certainly find a good price on new seats if you look around, justkidsstore.com usually has a 20% off coupon and they sell radians (which fit 3 across well)

  • We have a jeep commander. Fits our 4 year olds car seat and the twins car seats. Then there is another row in the back so we can put another car seat or kids back there if needed.

    @LottaLattes
    I think OP meant a used SUV.

    Edit- forgot to add that many SUVs middle seat do not have a latch or rear tether. You may want to look into this as there is no way the convertible car seat I have would be snug enough without the rear tether.
    We opted for a mini van.
  • Ohhh, that makes more sense ha

    I have 2 radians and an infant car seat and ultimately 3 radians (the pic shows all 3 radians; I eventually got an infant seat for baby too). They are the most narrow car seats on the market. Worth the investment if it prevents you from needing a new car.  We now need a new car, but for a while we have been able to fit all 3 kids in my Toyota Camry.

  • Babes aren't here yet, but we have a volvo xc60 (the smaller SUV without the third row) and we can fit two chicco bases/seats and a convertible seat - we have a massive britax pavillion but we're giving that to BFF and getting the Diono since it's narrower, converts to a booster, but still has a 5 point harness. And the xc60 has three rear tethers for the convertible seats.

  • There is a FB page called Car Seats for the Littles, it is run by CPSTs and has all the answers to any car seat questions.

  • We have a Honda Pilot and it fits our Britax Marathon plus two Graco Snugrides. It has the latch posts in every seat so it works great for us. I love it!

    We have tree across the back of our mid size SUV toyota highlander (Radians). I like that there is a 3rd row so we can take additional people too.
     Before that we even had them all in the back of a little 3 series beemer.

  • We have a 4runner and can fit our 2 toddler seats and infant carrier and there are 3 sets of latches for installation, as well.  But we had to get the Diono Radian R100 seats to make it happen.  The Diono Radians fit down to 5 pounders and up to 100 pounders.  I think the Diono Radians could fit 3 across in some cars because they are so narrow, but then you don't have the benefit of a carrier for infants.
