Advice needed - Nothing is working for congestion!

I'm in Florida visiting my parents and of course DS gets sick basically the minute we land. He's been running a low fever and has TONS of congestion. I've tried pretty much everything in the book and am keeping the fever down with tylenol. We have used baby vicks, tried steam, tried suctioning and saline. Nothing seems to help and he is having difficulties getting his bottle down because he's mouth breathing and eating at the same time. I think the suction would help alot but everytime I do it he completely flips out and gets even more stuffed up from crying so that just makes it worse.

Anything outside the box you ladies have tried and had work? And as unlikely as it is, I like to be prepared if he does get worse, Any hospital recommendations about 45 minutes north of Tampa? We're not scheduled to leave until Sunday and I just want to be home now so DS can be in his nursery and with his own stuff. That is not going to be a fun flight.

I put towels under one side of my DDs mattress when she was like this. It helped a bit but she still couldn't breathe well enough to get through the night. I ended up strapping her to my chest in a wrap and sleeping a few hours in my rocking chair with the wrap holding her upright. It lasted 4 or 5 days like that then she started getting better. Good Luck!

My son absolutely hates having his nose bulbed. I have to use saline, hold his arms really tight and bulb multiplr times before it helps.

Well even though he hates the suction and the saline DH held his head last night and we did the best we could. It helped for at least a few hours. He was able to sleep in his crib with the head elevated so that's progress! I hate seeing him sick!

Call you dr & explain how bad it is & that you are out of town & will be flying. Maybe you can try benadryl or something like that to help him. When ds was younger we had to do that & it helped. But the dr gave me a specific dosage. That was also 2 yrs ago.

Our doctor and pharmacist told us to give our baby a small dose of dimetapp, I protested at first from everything I've read but they said it was only pulled from shelves because parents were overdosing their kids to get them to sleep. It worked wonders for us. Maybe call your ped and see what they recommend. I'm sure I'm going to catch crap for this :)

For congestion with my DD our pedi told us to use a cool mist humidifier and I also use the baby vapor bath wash. it helped a lot with hers :)
