Another bathroom question

So after all these toilet questions I'm curious what everyone thinks of this scenario. My DH and I just bought a house and there is no door between the master BR and master bath. It is down a small hallway that contains the closets so there is no visibility from the bed area. DH is totally grossed out and insists in having a door built but I wouldn't care. Would it bother you??

  • I like to lock myself in the bathroom for cryfests, so doors are important.

  • I would need a door.

Don't worry, I'm working on it.

  • Whether it made me uncomfortable or not, I would be alright with putting one in if it made DH happier. But, I do like having a door...

Yep, we are getting a door for this reason but after the contractor said that he wouldn't personally put one in I was curious what others thought. I grew up in a house where doors were rarely closed so not that big a deal to me but my parents are crazy hippies!

  • I would absolutely, 100% need a door. Maybe I'm weird, but I would just need one. If one wasn't put on I would rarely use the room. There has to be some boundaries between DH and I. Maybe he can't see me, but can he hear or smell anything I do in there?

  • I would add a door. Even if it doesn't bother you that much, it could be an appraisal deduction because it is unusual. It shouldn't be too expensive and down the road it could help if you ever decide to sell.

  • I like doors. In the shower cryfests need a closed, locked door.

I've seen this and I don't mind it, but the way I've seen it the toilet is usually in its own little alcove with a door on it. I'm not sure how I'd feel if there was basically no barrier between the toilet and my bedroom.

This. We stayed in a vacation house in Florida that had this. No way in hell would I be cool with my toilet essentially being inside the bedroom.
  • Team door.

  • I might like a door but with kids I usually end up w/the door open anyway. Fashionable curtain? Hippie bead curtain? Does the frame even accommodate a door?

  • I have a similar situation but the tub is in the open off the bedroom and the toilet is off to the side in a closet with a door. We put up a curtain between the bedroom and bathroom.
  • I personally wouldn't care whether there was a door or not; however, if he cared that much I wouldn't care about putting on in either. DH and I never close the door when we go to the bathroom right now anyways, so I don't think either one of us would care.  Now, if we had kids who could just run into the bedroom and then into the bathroom -- then heck yes, that would be an issue and a door would be a must.
