XP: Pumping with an outside sales job

Does anyone have experience pumping with a job where your office is your car? I don't mind pulling over to pump in a parking lot somewhere, but I'm wondering if my milk will be okay in a cooler for 8 hours? Any advice and tips are welcome!

  • Yes your milk should be okay in a cooler for 8hrs, it's fine at room temp for about 5hrs. I just wouldn't leave it in the car if it's a hot summer day. Highly recommend you get a car adapter for your pump. And you'll probably want a nursing cover (I like the bebe au lait ones). Whenever I have pumped in my car I sat in the backseat for more privacy.

  • Yep! I ebf both my boys for over a year and work from my car. I had a Medela pisa with a car adapter and would use nursing cover. I live in AZ so it gets hot here and my milk was always fine in a cooler with ice

  • I like the idea of sitting in the backseat. I have a minivan so it's pretty spacious back there and much more private than the drivers seat. I actually have to pump on the road for the first time on Monday so thanks for these tips!

  • Thanks! Unfortunately my back seat has two car seats and no room for much else so I'll be in the driver seat!
