HCG strips, need some reassurance...

Hi mommies! So I have had a real scare the last 36 hours. To save a long story and make it short, I bought the Wondfo HCG strips for later use. (this is what I used to find out I was pregnant with DS). Not feeling right, light headed and a very quick bought of nausea (about 30 mins), I stopped and thought, surely I"m not pregnant again....So I dipped. Saw that the second line on the strip wasn't appearing quickly, so I threw it away. Went back into the bathroom a couple hrs later and saw a line. I freaked! Took a couple more, waited about 10-15 minutes and.....very faint line. All this was at around 8:00 pm. Please someone tell me if they've experienced multiple evap lines with these strips?? And I would appreciate the sarcastic and critical comments to be left to self. I am a little nervous about this. Thanks!!

  • It says to read after 5 minutes. So I"m not sure the maximum amount of time you should not read them. I didn't have this problem with DS because when I tested before, I'd get clear negatives and then the one clear positive. I've taken 6 strips now and they all have just the faintest line. Trying to read up on indent lines now.

  • How old is your DS? Is it possible the tests are picking up left over hormones from your pregnancy with him?

  • That's what DH asked. DS will be 15 weeks tomorrow. Could it still pick it up do you know?

  • I really think you're pregnant. I got the faintest line the first day I took pregnancy tests with both pregnancies. But just to be sure get an EPT pregnancy test that's digital since it'll say "pregnant" or "not pregnant." It's a faint line probably because you're so early in pregnancy and the Hcg is still low. Good luck!

  • From what I understand, a positive is a positive. You can't be "a little bit pregnant", so a faint line means the same as a bold one. :/
  • Yes a positive is a positive but a test read outside the time frame isn't valid.  That isn't to say you're NOT pregnant but these test results tell you nothing.  You need to test with first morning urine and read the test in the stated time.  GL! :)

Eeeeh, not to freak you out but I used the wondfo to test when I was TTC. I never had an evap line (though they could happen). Then, the month I did end up with a bfp I tested 8dpo (5 days before period was due) and I bad a super faint line show up outside the 10mins. I remember I went to look at it after about 10mins and saw the dye making its way across (which was weird) so I left it and looked again in a few mins and saw the faintest of faint lines. I thought it might be an evap though I was slightly hopeful because I never saw any line at all before, in the time limit or after or even dried. I was so skeptical though that i Didn't even tell my husband. The next day I had another line, still light but definitely darker and within the window of time. I can't remember if I had tried an frer yet. And now I have dd!
    One DD born 9/23/13.
    We're one and done!
  • Thanks mommies for your help!! I went out and bought a generic FRER and it was negative. I had used these strips with DS and never had an issue with the evap lines either. Not that I wouldn't be thankful, but we are obviously NOT ready to have another LO yet...I appreciate all your comments!!

  • I would take another test this weekend with morning urine just to be sure.

  • I had a couple batches of wondfos that had evap lines. I wouldn't look at them after the 5 minute mark. They're no longer valid. Glad you got some peace of mind from the frer.

I'm probably in the rare majority of ppl that I actually found out I was pregnant looking at evap lines, but I thought evaporated lines didn't count after a certain period of time... But that was wrong! I found out I was pregnant by looking at it, seeing it was negative and then throwing it in the trash. I went back an hour later to look at it just for the heck of it, and sure enough the evap line showed up positive. 11 months later, I had a beautiful baby boy. He's currently 9 weeks old.
